Guest guest
Dear Positive Thinkers in TBP, Love and Love alone..... I came across the below reproduced article in the July issue of IDEAS EXCHANGE. I liked it and wanted to share it with you all. I hope you also lilke it. Love and Love alone.... P. Gopi Krishna ===== WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE …quot; Dr. Sarah Eaggar, London Perhaps you have heard it said, you may have said it yourself … it is the thought that counts. But does thought matter and if so, how and why? Many theories have been elaborated, ranging from regarding THOUGHT as more a by product of the working brain, much like steam is the result of oiling water, to THOUGHT being a powerful energy in its own right. Examples of thought affecting matter in some unexplained way are numerous. Hypnotists are aware that thought can work in the opposite direction to a sense input, and can tell a hand it is freezing cold when it is not. How that thought gets from the brain to the hand is not known. BELIEF is a very firm thought pattern and enables the believer to walk on hot coals, for example, and defy normal physiology. Parapsychology cites many examples of matter bending by the mind. The evidence for telekinesis in telepathy is anecdotal, but nonetheless very strong despite the lack of scientific explanation. In the case of phantom limbs, thoughts can convince an amputee that his arm us still there even when it is not. On more familiar ground the PLACEBO EFFECT has been well documented. BELIEVE or THINK that a medicine will cure you and it will - so what has actually worked,, the medicine or your thoughts? The effect of thoughts on the body is well known in the area or psychosomatic diseases. Having angry or stressful thoughts and your stomach lining goes red and sore and you are on the way to an ulcer. Your blood pressure is also likely to go up, asthma comes on, diabetes gets out of control or your skin breaks out in a rash. In fact there is increasing evidence that the mind is directly implicated in both the genesis and aggravation of all diseases. Distressing life events are statistically higher in those people who subsequently develop cancer. Painful thoughts have a direct effect on the defence system of the body and make one vulnerable to the attack of the cancer cell. Thinking gives rise to feelings and these two factors are inextricably linked in their effects. In the area of relationship, the way we think about someone else determines the way we treat them …quot; our attitude. We have the potential for enjoyable, harmonious relationships or complete disasters, both in a personal and a global sense. It is our thoughts and, therefore, beliefs that have the most profound effect on behaviour, and on further examination it becomes clear that the quality of thought determines the quality of action. Creativity and inventiveness begin as thought in the minds of men and women. Everything external that we now tend to place higher than ourselves, from a beautiful art form to a most complex computer all began with a thought. Perhaps the most significant time we realize how precious thoughts are, is when they go wrong. When people are psychotic, one of the most disturbed aspects of this condition is described as THOUGHT DISORDER. They do not make sense …quot; their thoughts are completely out of control …quot; the result is devastating madness. On a smaller scale this lack of thought control could be described as worry, an unpleasant experience; and certainly negative thinking is that. The life of a depressive, constantly having negative thoughts about his own guilt, failure and uselessness leads to a life of complete misery. In relationships negative thinking is an attitude which leads to quarrels or even to murder; the combined effect of negative thoughts and feelings is a force to be reckoned with. This has particular importance in the world today where such forces on an international level place our planet in a state of crisis. Perhaps it is worth paying a little more attention to our thoughts. Then we realize what a powerful motivating force they are; at the personal level of well-being as well as our interactions with others, both locally and globally. Give just a minute of strong peaceful thoughts to our world, every day. It needs it. Negative thoughts and feelings have placed our planet in a state of crisis. The positive always defeats the negative: Courage overcomes fear, patience overcomes anger and irritability, and love overcomes hatred. The power of thoughts is such that your thoughts guide you to your destiny. If you always think the same you will always get to the same place. Think in a new way and you will be a new person. Give happiness to all and you will live in peace. Create peace in your mind and you will create a world of peace around you.
