Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 60 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO " NAKSHATRAANAAMAHAM SASEE " --BHAGAVAD GITA In Gita Lord Sreekrishna gives a vivid account of how He has manifested Himself in various objects of life. He says, of all trees, He is the Aswaddha one, of all venomous snakes He is the most dangerous Vaasuki serpent, among the twelve months of the year He is the month of Margassersha, and among the stars He is the moon. Hence moon occupies a venerable place in mythology. Lord Shiva wears the crescent moon on his hair. It is said Lakshmi and moon were born together in the same Milk Ocean. (Ksheera Sagara) while being churned by the angles on one side and demons on the other. Well then, what has that to do to the man of the busy world is the question that arises. Looking at the starry sky and that of the phases rising and waning moon is a great solace to man. Modern man, immersed in his hard ways of the world, looking up to the sky and observing the beauteous nature looking in admiration of the sweet silent moon and the stars, is of great value bringing peace to his mind of man. And lord says that He has manifested as the greatest one among stars in the form of moon. Children are to be taught to observe the various phases of the moon. Rabindranath Tagore, it is said, used to go into ecstatic raptures and sing songs when he used to see the beautiful moon.
