Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS:75 COURTESY:SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO " MAA BHI BHIR NA MARISHYASI " -ATHARVANA VEDA 5-30-8 " Fear not! You will not die! This Vedic text should sound strange especially when everyone knows that man is but mortal and how can it be said `you will not die (na marishyasi'). This deserves closer consideration. The saying has two parts. The first is the exhortation `fear not'. Man's greatest enemy or his killing factor, is fear. It is fear more than anything that kills man. And when man gets over the fear, he will, it can be said, get over the fear of death. Hence symbolically, he does not face death, though physically he may lose his physical body. The later part of the saying `you will not die' speaks of man's soul which is immortal. In Gita the soul is said to be indestructible (Achchedyo). Several interpretations can be given on this Vedic verse `fear not, you will not die'. " Maa bhi bhir na marishyasi " . Suffice to say this reminds man of his immortal self and fear of death should not be given undue place. Though carrying a physical tabernacle, man is but the reflection of God and embedded in his life, is the heavenly immortal soul.
