Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 78 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARDHANA RAO " MOUNENA KALAHAM NAASTI " Silence (mounena) stops (nasti) quarrels (Kalaham). This ancient text tells us that by observing silence, quarrels do not occur. In every day life we observe squabbles among people are fanned by repartees and rebuttals. Hence some times, the squabbles continue endlessly to the detriment of both the parties. These quarrels or petty squabbles create unpleasantness, with their uncontrollable outbursts, blurting, sometimes or many times hurting the ego of other person and provoking him to retaliate. To put it simply, there is that unfortunate occasion which every one should strive to avoid at all costs, that is, retaliation. You are separated; you are fragmented from the alliance. It is the most unfortunate, undesirable and unpleasant moment indeed. There is a display of uncontrolled emotions, but its impact lies deep, raw and irrational. It is a moment of weakness indeed but is impact lies deep and lasting by any expression, with a raised tone betraying our emotion, our dislikes, and our passion. Let our talk be contained by silence and let them not be stretched causing a conflagration or a spreading contagion. And how to stop these squabbles? One answer " Be silent " " Be Cool " (Mounena).
