Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 83 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARDHANA RAO " RAJASTHAMO MOPAGAA " --ATHARVANA VEDA 8-2-1 " Be free from qualities of Rajas and Tamas " . Man should try by all means to follow `Saatvic' ways and be away from Rajasic and Tamasic attributes. Bhagavad-Gita, in `Gunatraya Vibhag' chapter fully deals with the classification of man's attitudes into three (Thriguna). All the categories of men are to be divided into three. The first and the best type of men are the Saatvic people, soft and disciplined and ever in pursuit of knowledge. We may, according to the present social conditions consider them as thinkers, scientists, engineers; doctors etc., the second type of men are `Rajasic'. They are down to earth practical people, some are martial, some technicians etc., the third category of men are `Tamasic' in temperament, and they follow the ways of world in a conservative, slavish manner, lazy and occupy the lower strata of the society. For a comprehensive picture of these three categories, Satva, Rajas, Tamas, " Gunatraya Vibhaga " in Gita should be read in detail. Here the Vedic text exhorts us to be free from the last two traits " Rajas and Tamas " . This denotes men should try to follow Saatvic ways in life and eschew the last two namely, Rajas and Tamas.
