PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA!

VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 89

COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARDHANA RAO

" SATU DEERGHA KAALA, NAIRANTARYA,

SATKAARA SEVITHO DIRDHA BHOOMIHI "

-PATANJALI YOGA SUTRAS

Long, continued, persistent, well motived, relentless effort will

form the strong basis (of Yoga). Maharshi Patanjali in this Sutra

(adage) defines what forms the formidable basis for Yoga. The

continuous, well directed (Satkaraa sevito) effort becomes the basic

ground for the achievement of the goal of Yoga. What is the

ultimate goal of Yoga! The goal of yoga lies in the awakening

of " Kundalini " .

Kundalini, through biologically not proved scientifically, is

described by the ancient sages, as the hidden source lying latent or

dormant state, as a serpent asleep at the roof of the spinal cord.

If this latent power is awakened, it is stated, that several

miraculous supernatural powers will be gained by the Yogi or the

practitioner.

And for this great discovery of hidden treasury in man, Yogic

practice in a relentless manner is said to be the most essential

requirement or sine qua non. The practice should not be by spurts,

by ups and downs, but should be a long continuous process of

practice and the goal of " Kundalini " ever be constantly before the

eye of the practioner of Yoga. It should be an unhindered

continuous practice.
