Guest guest
A True Sai Sevak By N. Subramarim (New Delhi) He who serves 'Sai' does not serve himself; He who worships Sai spreads Sai's Glory, not his. He who invokes Sai's Name erases his own; He seeks no advantage for himself When he works for the benefit of others; Self-effacement is the hall-mark of a Sai Sevak, And Self-sacrifice is his identity card. Truthfulness in word and deed is his passport. To project one's own personal image for selfish gains, Material profit or hunt for popularity, Or needless vanity and egoistic self-publicity, Is not the way of a Sai Sevak, true and pure He goes about unnoticed and serves unseen. For him everything has Sai-sanctity and Sai-Love. Every paisa collected or spent is accounted for. Sai is Agni that has to be feared and respected, And His oodhi (Udhi/Vibhuthi) burns sins and sinners to ashes. Sai needs no big imposing shrines in brick and mortar, But needs to be graciously enshrined in every heart A true Sai Sevak goes about in utter humility Like Narasimha Swamiji and Sai Padanandaji, Avoiding outward show and awkward obsequious postures For a true Sai Sevak, a litany of pious wishes Is not prayer or pooja or ceremonious ritual But selfless service is his meditation and worship. His conviction is that true devotion is most inexpensive And the spirit of service is compassion and detachment. He knows it is not in our power but in God's; To wipe out karmic effects in life or cure all ills As an ordinary mortal, he well believes That it is Sai's Grace we have to secure by prayer.
