VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 96

COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO

" SUKHA SPARSASCHA MARUTAH "

-RAMAYANA

`And they lived happily ever after' is generally the ending of any

fairly tale. At the end of the great epic Ramayana

the " text " " Sukha Sparsacha Maaruthaha " comes, meaning people, in

the kingdom of Sree Rama (Rama Rajya) lived happily with " fine

freezes blowing over them " . (Sukha Sparasacha Maruthaha). The

present text is significant, as it denotes the meteorological aspect

of the Rama Rajya.

A happy cool breeze (Sukha sparsacha maarutah) touching (Sparsacha)

bodies, needs no elaboration, as an exhilarating experience to men.

Every one wants to enjoy cool breeze touching him or her. People go

all out to hill places, beaches, waterfalls, seaside to experience

this healthy invigorating cool breezes.

It is said the environmental heat is to be two degrees less than the

bodily heat. Then it will be conducive to the longevity of man.

Both summer heat waves and cool freezing atmospheric places are

unhelpful to the health and long life of man.

Ancient cave man protected himself from extremes of climatic

dwelling in caves. At a later date forest dwellers too lived under

the tree foliage and modern man lives in centrally controlled

heating system changing the temperature to his happy living. Yoga

system also enunciates that a yogi should continue his practices in

a room, which is free from extremes of climate. Sukha sparsacha

maarutah'. " They lived with happy breezes touching them "
