Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 98 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO " SUPRAJA PRAJAYAA BHUYAASAM SUVEERO VEERAIHI, SURVARCHA VARCHASA SU POSHAH POSHAIHI " -YAJURVEDA, " BRAHMOPADESHAM " Before sending a boy to the Guru Kula before the completion of eight years of age, the parents have to celebrate the ritual of investiture ceremony of the holy thread " Yagnopaveetam " to the boy which is a Vedic rite still pursued; known as " Upanayanam " The following mantra is known as `Brahamopadesham " spoken into the ears of the son by the father with cloth covered over the father and the son to symbolize the words as great sacred secret denoting virtue. The meaning of this mantra discloses how noble and lofty the Vedic thoughts are Let there be good people (Supraja Prajaya) Let there be brave people (Su Veero) Let there be resplendent shining people (Su Varchasa) Let there be well fed strong people (Su Posahih) At this holiest moment of initiation into Gayatri which makes the boy obtain a new second life, known as " Dwija " , the attributes of the people to be natured in the society " as good, brave, shining and strong " are given. These factors mentioned form the noblest ideals and people with such attributes naturally constitute the ideal society.
