Sure Steps to God-realization – Brahmalina Sri Jayadayal Goyandka

 

If we persuade ourselves that the Lord will meet us even if

our love for Him is scant, the most compassionate and supremely

loving Lord can meet us in spite of our meagre love, overlooking our

faults. Nay, the Lord meets even those who long to see Him under the

belief that He takes into account neither our eligibility nor our

love but only expects us to long for Him. Hence we should develop an

intense longing for the Lord – the same type of thirst as a greedy

man has for his money. All the endeavours of a greedy man are solely

directed towards money, his mind is ever obsessed with the idea of

money and money alone. He may not have the word `money' on his lips

all the twenty-four hours; but his mind is ever seized with an

insatiable thirs for money. Hence he is designated as a true

worshipper of mammon. He can renounce his wife and children, his

faith and duty, nay, even God for the sake of money. He is always

found saying, " Money must be acquired at any cost, no matter if we

get nothing else. Even so all the endeavours of a true devotee of

God are directed solely towards God and the Lord surely meets him.

It is therefore that Goswami Talisidasa says: " May You be ever so

dear to me, O Rama, as woman is dear to a lustful man, and as money

is dear to the greedy, O Lord of the Raghus! "
