Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BADNDUVAULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 104 COURTESY SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO " SRIYAM VAASAYA ME KULE " --SREE SOOKTAM " May good fortune (Sriyam), exist (Vasaya), in my house (me kule) is the prayer we come across in the holy hymns of " Sree Sooktam " , chanted in all temples and at the sacred rituals. This is an invocation to the Goddess of Prosperity, Sree Maha Laxmi, wife of Lord Maha Vishnu. The implorative's slokas (verses) in this text pray for the prosperity, peace and glory of the individual and that of his members of the family. Vedic texts are full of blessings to mankind to lead a happy full rich life with peace plenty and progress. Vedas advocate a positive out look of man aspiring for a glorious life. The present hymn is a prayer to the Goddess Laxmi, imploring her to dwell in the abode of the devotee. This, in other words, means that man must be prosperous. He should be free from want. And it is this condition of plenty that renders man with a scenario, free from insecurity, anxiety for tomorrow, and the humility requesting another for help. This Godly gift of `Sriyam " Laxmi makes man, contended, full and self confident. Such a person will be of help to himself, to his community and will not be a burden to it.
