Guest guest
A Way to Wipe Out Attachment Someone's son dies then there is great sorrow, but in reality the sorrow that is experienced is not in the death of the son, but it is in believing the son to be " mine " Daily in the world whoever is dying, it is the son that is dying, because the dying one happens to be the son of someone or the other. But when we consider that it is " my son " that is dying, then at that very moment we will experience sorrow and deep grief. Rather, in this world it is the relationship, the feeling of " mine-ness " that is the root cause of sorrow. If the relationship is only for the purpose of serving the other, then there will not be any sorrow. Therefore in this family life, the relationship should be one of - serve all, give happiness to all, give comforts to all, whereby attachment will be wiped out If a 25 year old son dies, then one experiences immense grief and sorrow. But if the same son becomes severely ill at the age of 19-20 and if the doctors announce that there is no likelihood of him prolonging his life, and after suffering for several years, he dies at the age of 25, then one does not experience as much grief and sorrow. The point here is that it is in the hope of happiness, desire and enjoyment that sorrow is hidden. If we do not crave for happiness, or desires or wanting enjoyment from the world or others, then sorrow cannot ever touch us.
