MANDALA BRHMANAOPANISHAT (Continuation)

The smalest MANDALA BRHMANOAPNISHAT shows the way in getting

the vision of ATMA, PARAMAATMA and finally takes the striver for

JYOTIRDARSANAM. Hence it is also called as JYOTIRDARSANA VIDYA.

The famous yogi Alkur Gollapinni Mallikarjuna Sastry and

AVADHUTA Sri Chellaguruki Yerritaata and other great persons trained

their deciples in the ATMAVIDYA as said in this UPANISHAT and lead

them to ultimate goal through ADHYTMA VIDYA.

This UPANISHAT looks simple and easy to understand. But it is

difficult to remember and implimentation in daily practice. It is

only possible by the grace and mercy of SADGURU. Hence this should

be studied with concentration and devotion on GURU.

This Upnishat starts with Maharshi Yagnavalkya visit to

Suryaloka. The saint asked Lord SURYANARAYANA to tell him about

ADHYATMA VIDYA. The Lord Suruyanarayana starts his teachings

with 'Yamadyastanga yoga' associated with 'GNANA'

Yama, Niyama, Aasana, Prnaayaama, Pratyahaara, Dhyana, Dharana

and Samaadhi are called as 'Asthanga Yoga'

YAMA means (Bahirindriiya nigraham) getting control on cold and

heat. Controlling sleep. Always peacefullness. Control on desires

NIYAMAHA (Antarindriya nigraham) includes Gurubhakti, interest on

truth way. Satisfaction with the meterial or food whcih is obtained

without much hard work. Interested in lonlyness,diversion of mind

for lonlyness, not having interest in 'karmaphala' and

having 'Vairaagya bhavana'

AASANA includes 'sukhasana', wearing ordinary cloth (named

as 'nara'in telugu) and siting on that cloth for meditation.

PRANAAYAAMA includes control on breathing by pranayama. There are

three steps in the pranayama

1.Pooraka = taking breath inside

2.Kumhaka = keeping breath inside

3.Rechaka = leaving the breath out side

The above should be controled as below

1.puraka = sixteen times

2.kumbhaka = sixty four times

3.Rechaka = thirty two times

PRATYAHARAHA means controlling the mind as it should not go to for

happyness available from VISHYA and INDRIYAARTHAS

DHYANAM :- Each and every life is having chaitanya in common form.

Thinking the same is Dhyanam

DHARANAM = Diversion of mind from 'VISHAYA' and concentrating in

chaitanya

SAMAADHI = Deep concentration even forgetting dhyana

THE ABOVE ARE 'SUKSHAMMANGAS'

The person who knows the ABOVE shall be a MUKTA

There are five 'DOSHAS' for the phisical body of human being

kama, Krodha, Niswasa, Bhaya and Nidra are the five doshas

The striver should come out from the above five 'doshas' with the

help of the following

Nissankalpata, Kshama, Control on food (minimum food), Awareness and

(to be continued)
