SILENCE – A SHELTER OF ENERGY: Silence is often referred to in

terms of space: the immensity inside, the cave of the heart, the

oasis of quiet, the inner sanctuary, the sacred center of the

divine. Silence provides a way to periodically withdraw from the

world and be in contact with our deeper self and spirit. We must

make room for silence – literally. Find a place of physical silence

where we can sit quietly, away from disturbing demands, voices, and

sounds and sit there everyday. We should also incorporate minutes of

silence into our daily routine: observing one silent minute at the

desk before beginning the work, while sitting at a park bench during

lunch, in our car before starting the drive home, or after watching

the evening news. Silence is filled with positive energy. Our

spirits flourish in silence. Begin with at least five minutes

silence daily. Silence is rejuvenating. Keep focusing on the breath

to quiet intrusive thoughts. Increasingly, silence will become our

energy refuge. – Mary Ann Brussat

MEDITATION: It confers three gifts. First, it brings deep peace and

tranquility of mind. Second, it brings clear intuition. Third, if

pursued with constancy and devotion, it leads to the direct

experience of the Divine. Sit quietly with your back straight. Close

your eyes and relax and then set your attention on your nostrils

watching your breath passing in and out. At each inhalation, you

take note: `In', you say silently to yourself; on the exhalation,

you say `Out'. Breath is the only true, factual, indisputable

reality we know. Everything else is happening within our minds; they

are projections of our minds. – Sophy Burnham
