Have a Firm Determination - Part 3

 

Question: As long as worldly pleasures do not come in front of us,

till that time we are firm that we will not get entangled in

enjoyment of worldly pleasures. But when we come face to face with

such enjoyments, we become weak. What should we do? (cont'd Part 3)

 

Swamiji: (cont'd Part 3) You remain firm on this point - " I will not

harm anyone; I will cause no suffering to any one " This point seems

like an ordinary point, but in reality it has immense significance

and greatness. It is not in anyway less than worship of God,

meditating on God, reciting His name etc. It is a very precious

point, but people do not pay attention to it, and they simply take

it casually.

 

Just like when you overcome your sickness, you start to feel a bit

hungry, and on eating some food, you start to gain energy. In the

same way, if you stay firm on your thoughts and convictions, then

you will gradually gain strength. Therefore let us stay firm on the

thoughts, that whatever may happen to me, I will never speak

untruth. I will not be cunning and clever.

 

Do not be afraid that you may be dishonored or disgraced. If you

speak untruth and hide, it will be a worse disgrace, not any less.

On the other hand, when you stop hiding, there will be great respect

for you. If you act clever, then you will drop from the hearts of

great Souls and holy men. You will fall from the heart of divinity.

Rather do not be clever and cunning. Speak clear and

straightforwardly. By straight talk, surely no one can put you on

the death sentence ? It is not so difficult to do this. When you

think about your salvation and what is beneficial to you, then this

point will become very easy. Initially there is a little fear, but

after some time this fear will vanish.

 

If there is something I know, I will share, or else I will tell in

front of thousands that I do not know. What obstacles do I face in

telling the truth? Worst of all, people will consider me stupid or

unknowledge, what more can happen ? Considering me intelligent, what

kind of salvation or realizations can they lead me to? And

considering me as illiterate and dumb, what obstacles can they

create in God Realization or salvation? What I know, I will share,

what I don't know, I will not share and somethings I may know, but

not share. If I believe you will not benefit from my sharing, then I

will not share with you.

 

Do not be afraid that your weaknesses will be uncovered. When the

weaknesses are uncovered then what remains is solid, substantial,

geniune and firm ground ! Keeping in hiding your weaknesses, what

will you do? It is surprising that Veda Vyaasji Maharaj wrote about

his birth in the form of shlokas on many occassions. What a heart he

has ! It is because of this heart that he is so lovable and so very

much respected. On revealing the truth, there is no loss. It is only

a fallacy that one will undergo losses.
