Guest guest
Have a Firm Determination Part 4 Question: As long as worldly pleasures do not come in front of us, till that time we are firm that we will not get entangled in enjoyment of worldly pleasures. But when we come face to face with such enjoyments, we become weak. What should we do? (cont'd Part 3) Swamiji: One who has learned how to swing the weapon from the very beginning, he alone will be able to face the enemy and confront it. But if the enemy comes before such learnings, and you have not learned how to use the weapon, then you will have to suffer through the blows from the enemy ! You have heard the various points in spiritual discourses, but when enjoyments and pleasures come in front of you, then you forget these things, and you are unable to apply them. " Tab laagi sab hi mitre hai, jab laagi paryo ne kaam Hem agam shudh hot hai, peetal hovey syaam. " When you don't need someone's help, till that time all are your friends. One needing someone's help, you realize who is your true friend and who is not. Even gold appears to be yellow and even some other metals appear yellow, but when placed over fire, the gold shines, whereas someother metals become black. There are learned things and there are things that one knows, i.e. things that one has personal experience of them. Knowledge which is experienced is true knowledge, and it never varies or goes here and there. That which is learned, only remains at the intellectual level, it does not reach the Self. But that which is learned, reaches the level of the Self. Until a particular point does not reach the level of the Self, till that time it does not translate into proper actions in the way it should project in relationships. One whose goal is God Realization, that one is not satisfied by things that are learned. On not being satisfied, he is on a quest to know that what is the reality, the essence behind this? On searching incessantly, that essential knowledge will be known, it will become experiential knowledge. There is on one hand satsang (association with truth) and on the other hand is spiritual messages and divine stories and critical inquiry. Divine stories, discourses etc. one can get at many different places, but a Great Soul who has experienced the truth, who has realized God, is a rarity. Such men were a rarity even in the past (other yugs). Today they are even more rare ! Today students too are not properly learning the scriptures. Taking examinations the easy way out, they graduate. When asked, they are unable to share what they know. They are unable to share even what they have learned, then where is the question of knowing the essential truths? These students are far from being able to share this knowledge! It is my sincere prayer that you realize the truths, and don't simple do superficial learning.
