Guest guest
THE PERFUME OF GOD IS WITHIN: Spiritual quest is not a tangible experience. It is a state of inner tranquility. Remember the legend of the musk deer. One day it sniffed a breath of musk perfume. It leaped from jungle to jungle in its pursuit. Not knowing from where the scent came from, it pursued it through ravines, forests and hills. Finally, starved, harassed, exhausted and wandering about at random, it slipped from the top of the rock and fell mortally wounded. And in the process got its musk pouch torn. It gasped and tried to breathe in the perfume, but it was too late. The perfume which the deer looked for externally, was all the while contained in itself. So don't seek the perfume of God outside yourself and perish in the jungle of life. Search and look within your own self to find God. – Janina Gomes ASHTAVAKRA said that nothing exists other than the Self. There is neither bondage nor liberation for one who understands that the world is illusion. The science also tells us that everything is ultimately energy and the spark that became life has to one day get back to its original state. That is, return to the ultimate cosmic energy that permeates all space. Birth and death are mere interregnums. – Narayani Ganesh DESTINY: It is something we create unconsciously. We can also create it consciously. There is no ultimate destiny. In a limited sense, the accumulations that we have within us form certain attitudes and tendencies and they start moving in a particular direction. It is not because something is guiding them in that direction. Simply because our tendencies are such, we are going that way.For example, the river from the mountain eventually joins the ocean. Is this the river's destiny? No, this is the water's tendency. The river is not longing to go to the ocean though many people say so. Water finds its own level and just keeps going. If you put a dam, the river does not start crying that I want to go to the ocean. – Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev prof laxmi narain (prof_narain) Source and courtesy: Sri Ramana Kendram, Hyderabad This article was published in Sri Ramana Jyothi, monthly magazine of the Kendram.
