Guest guest
7. This contains ideas that can refresh the seekers on their path. This is a text book of advice (upadesa) and not a book of disputation (vada). In Bhaja Govindam, we meet with a teacher who is softly advising his own beloved disciples in the sacred chamber of his own sacred seclusion. These thirty stanzas have a peculiar style and effect about them. There is no softness in the approach to correct the erring man. It whips up on the back of man because of the urgency. Thus in 'Bhaja Govindam' Acharya Sankara strives to reeducate the intellects of his beloved disciples so that they may find a new channel for spiritual upliftment. " Seeking our identity with the Lord, " is true bhaja, true seva - 'service'. It is a total subjective surrender in faithful love and devotion, at the feet of the Lord, 'Govinda' stands for the essence, the Atman which is the Truth behind the ever changing world -- the realm of our experiences. Therefore, Bhaja Govindam implies, " Seek your identity with Govinda, the Supreme. "
