SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MANTRA OM : Mantra is a word of power born

out of the secret depths of our being. It is a supreme rhythmic

language which seizes hold upon all that is finite and brings into

each the light and voice of its own infinite. It is the most direct

and heightened, and most divinely burdened rhythmic word which

embodies inspiration and envelops the mind with the sight and the

presence of the very self. Its characteristics are a language that

conveys infinitely more than the language and is born out of the

infinite and disappears into it. OM is the mantra, the expressive

sound-symbol of the Brahman Consciousness. The mantra OM opens the

consciousness to the sight and feeling of the One consciousness in

all material things, in the inner being and in the supra-physical

worlds, in the causal plane above, and finally, in the supreme

liberated transcendence above all cosmic existence. – Sri
