Guest guest
Dear friends and devotees, Bhakti is eternal. 8. Ugadi (Yugaadi) (Cjhaitra Suddha Padyami.) Ugadi means the beginning of a Telugu New Year. It is celebrated on the first day of Chaitra Masam (month). Ugadi indicates the onset of the best season. It ushers in a promising season of prosperity and abundance. The festival brings in hope and cheer and is an auspicious beginning for the coming year. On this day, houses are cleaned, painted and a 'toran' of mango leaves is strung in front of each house. With the coming of Ugadi, the naturally perfumed jasmines (mallepulu) spread a sweet fragrance which is perhaps unmatched by any other in nature's own creation! While large garlands of jasmine are offered to Gods in homes and temples, jasmine flowers woven in clusters adorn the braids of women. (In general) To be continued... With love and regards, Sastry.
