From RaghuRaman Satulury - Editor

Dear Sai devotee,

On 25th of December2007, " SAIDARBAR " - Hyderabad enters tenth year from its

inception and " The Glory of Shirdi Sai " -The e-magazine published from Saidarbar,

enters the Sixth year of it's publication on 1st January 2008. The overwhelming

support and encouragement received from Sai devotees is the main driving force

for our team members to keep us going. During the past ten years, membership has

touched thousands thereby rejuvenating our vigor and commitment to serve better.

The continuous overseeing of all the Saidarbar activities with utmost care and

full dedication by Saibanisa Gopala Rao Ravda ji has immensely helped in

sustaining the image.

I shall fail in my duty if I do not record the excellent services rendered by

Sai Sevak

Srinivasa Rao Kasturi in organizing our daily activities and compilation of

all the materials meant for publication.

The support rendered by our sixteen chapters of Saidarbar overseas is very

valuable and are gratefully acknowledged.

We look forward for continued support in the coming years too.

Please give your support and valuable suggestions for the improvement of the

E-magazine on E-mail ID saidarbar So that we can fulfill our mission

to serve Shirdi Sai devotees and spread HIS Philosophy across the Globe.

Pray Lord Shirdi Sainath to shower HIS blessings on all.

Compiled by:

Sai Sevak Smt. Rajeswari Kasturi, Saidarbar – Hyderabad.

Shirdi Sai's Philosophy in the words of Saibanisaji

A man who chases after fame and wealth and love affairs is like a child who

licks honey from the blade of a knife. While, he tastes the sweetness of honey,

he has to risk hurting his tongue. He is like a man who is carrying a torch of

flame against a strong wind; the flame will certainly burn his hands and face.

It would be foolish for a man to put out his eyes for fear of being tempted by

beautiful forms. The mind is master and so longer is under control, the weaker

desires will be overpowered.

Health, happiness to family and peace to everyone around, comes only when one

exercises discipline and mind control. A man with perfect mind control can find

way to enlightenment. All the wisdom and virtues will naturally come to him.

3. SAI IN DREAMS:

http://www.ettitudemedia.com

These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSaji From our

beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will

help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and

presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

MAY-1995:

27-05-1995

I prayed Lord Sainath to educate me on the care to be taken in leading normal

life. Sai presented with a visual-

I was cycling through a road full of potholes. I got down, walked for a while

holding the bicycle and again started once the path was seen plain. Then I came

across a river. I got into a boat and had a short nap during the boat ride,

situation appeared satisfactory till then. Suddenly I found water entering into

the boat. I took out my dinner plate and with its help started pouring the water

back into the river, thus continued journey as guided by the wind direction.

Exit roads are there for every difficult situation.

28-05-1995

I prayed Baba to show me a way to live peacefully in the company of my family.

I was shown with the visuals-

- I was sitting in the midst of my relatives, encircled by a revolving ring

of light. They were all whispering that my Guru presented it.

- My kith and kin are living quite far off and visiting me once in a while,

Traveling by air and talking to me on telephone occasionally.

- I was building a house with sweet honey as one of the ingredients rather

Than using only sand and cement for bonding.

- I planted good banana trees as barrier wall between we brothers so that

both the families can enjoy the fruit equally.

Think good and do good for better results.

29-05-1995

I prayed Baba to rid me of the mental torture I am subjected to from my near

and dear ones. Sai presented me with a visual as an unknown person and said-

Avarice and jealousy amongst friends and relatives is as common as a wild

growth of vegetation in a clean pond of water. However man being a social

animal, cannot live alone by himself just as water needed for survival. Some of

the associated troubles have to be faced for living in the society.

Jealousy is a common whether expressed or unexpressed

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

" Shashi " : shashi_31

30. Efficacy of Prayer and Worship

We must lead a moderate, simple, dignified, clean and noble life having faith

in God and perform Nitya Pooja. God’s force is ever peaceful, calm, serene,

blissful, truthful and splendid. If we worship God daily, we will get peace and

delight from Him. The whole world is a vast kingdom ruled by God’s grace. So all

our actions must be done as an offering to God. Then our every action shall be

inspired and fulfilled by God’s will. Regular worship to God transforms,

purifies, elevates and glorifies our life and also it widens our Soul, elevates

our mind, purifies our life, identifies our heart with the hearts of others and

immortalizes us.

When we sit in pooja, we must be very careful and see that our mind is not to

be polluted. As long as there are bad thoughts in us, our mind will not be

purified and we don’t get concentration. If we get sensual desires destroyed,

then only we can get benefit by performing Pooja. We can also visualize the

Atma-Jyothi, that is already present in us.

Devotion leads to perfection as well as occult and Divine potencies, as well

as immortality and fullness and happiness. Imperfection leads to desire. Bhakti

leads to perfection and stimulates desirelessness. When one is having Bhakti,

one will not have any sense of want or desire or grief or hatred. He will have

no selfish attachments and worldly desires. We will have exuberant joy and peace

and Self-Realization. Spirit of renunciation and Self control is the essence of

Bhakti. He should do his duties in a sprit of detachment and without a thirst

for the fruit of his actions. Devotion is the opposite of desire.

To be continued…..

5. SANATANA DHARMA & SHRI SHIRDI SAIBABA.

Life after life I cast those who are malicious, hateful, cruel, and degraded

into the wombs of those with similar demonic natures. Birth after birth they

find themselves with demonic tendencies. Degraded in this way, Arjuna, they fail

to reach me and fall lower still.

There are three gates to this self-destructive hell: lust, anger, and greed.

Renounce these three. Those who escape from these three gates of darkness,

Arjuna, seek what is best and attain life's supreme goal. Others disregard the

teachings of the scriptures. Driven by selfish desire, they miss the goal of

life, miss even happiness and success.

-Bhagavad Gita 16:19-23

Free from desire, He neither praises the peaceful

Nor blames the wicked.

The same in joy and sorrow, He is always happy.

He sees there is nothing to do.

-Ashtavakra Gita 18:82

Texas Students Celebrate Diwali

AUSTIN, TEXAS, November 14, 2007: The students in the University of Texas

chapter of the Hindu Students Council celebrated Diwali this year with a bang.

On November 9, students gathered at the base of the University of Texas tower to

participate in a Lakshmi Pooja, sing bhajans and watch a fireworks show. Diwali

is put on by the Hindu Students Council every year and is always a success, but

organizers were impressed with the large turnout this year. Over 500 students of

all faiths turned out to express support of the university Hindu community. The

event started at 5:30 PM with a Rangoli contest and a Diya Decorating contest.

At 6:30 PM, Acharyaji Soneraro from the Arya Samaj of Greater Houston began the

Lakshmi Havan puja. The Acharya, at the request of the Hindu Students Council,

explained the complex puja in English to the polyglot participants and included

them in the havan rituals. Following the puja, participants listened to bhajans

and then performed aarti to the

images of the Ashta Lakshmi. All participants were given a chance to perform

the Aarti and to partake in the Prasad. At 9:00 PM, a spectacular fireworks show

commenced over the tower.

6. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

Nov 11, 2007 9:39 AM

Experiences of Devotees reading Satcharitra, Baba’s stories

I started Sai Satcharitra on Thursday. And today is the 7th day. This morning

as I was reading Satcharitra at work for sometime, a thought crossed my mind

that I should have Baba’s picture in my office cube. Since I had 2 photo frames

at home, I thought I would get the smaller one and put it on my desk. But, the

smaller frame also seemed too big for me as I didn't want to display my

religious inclinations at work. I wanted something smaller and compact, which I

did not have with me. After lunch when I came back to work, I thought I would

read the book for a while. And when I opened the book. a small pocket size

picture of Sai Baba fell out of the book onto my desk. I am not sure who put it

there or where it came from, but it presented itself at the right moment.

I dint see the picture in the book even though I was reading it for the past

6 days. I was surprised and excited at the same time as to how this happened.

As I was thinking about it this morning itself. For me it is nothing less than a

miracle. Even now, if I think about that incident I really feel elated and

pleased that Baba is with me all the time to protect me and save me from

trouble! Samartha Sadguru. Shri Sainath Maharaj ki jai!

7. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children

and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be

entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my

child hood.

The story of the Monkey and the crocodile

Once upon a time there lived a monkey named Red-face on a tree by the side of

the sea. The tree was an apple tree and the fruits it bore were sweet as nectar.

Once a crocodile named Ugly-Mug swam ashore and Red-face threw apples at him and

asked him to taste them. Ugly-Mug started coming everyday ashore and eat the

fruits thrown by Red-face and soon they became good friends. Ugly-Mug used to

take some fruits to his home to his wife.

.

His wife was a greedy lady and asked him as to where he got the nectar filled

apples. Ugly-Mug told about his friend the monkey. The lady was greedy and

pleaded with her husband that she would like to eat the monkey's heart, as a

person who gave such tasty fruits must have a heart filled with nectar. Ugly-Mug

was angered and did not agree to deceive his friend. But she then insisted on

not eating anything till he brought her his friend's heart. Out of desperation,

Ugly-mug started making plans for killing his friend.

.

He came back to Red-face and entreated him with an invitation to his house for

supper stating that his wife would be thrilled to have him home and also that

she was very anxious to meet such a nice friend. Poor Red-face believed the

story but was asking his friend as to how he could cross the sea to reach the

house of the crocodile on the other side. Ugly-mug then offered to carry him on

his back and the monkey agreed.

.

In the middle of the sea, Ugly-mug took the crocodile deep into the ocean to

kill the monkey. The monkey was frightened and asked the crocodile why he was

doing this. Ugly-mug told him that his wife wanted to eat the monkey's heart

filled with nectar. Red-face immediately asked it to take him back to the tree

as he told him that he had left his other heart which was full of nectar back at

the tree. The foolish crocodile then swam back to the tree and the terrified

monkey jumped up the tree never to return. Upon being asked as to why she was

not returning, the monkey answered to the crocodile that he had only one heart

and he had been fooled and scolded his friend for misusing his friendship.

.

The crocodile was ashamed at what happened and asked the monkey if he could

make any amends. And he was also scared that his wife would not let him back in

because he had returned without the monkey's heart. Just then he heard that a

huge he-crocodile had occupied the house of his. The monkey advised him to fight

the he-crocodile and drive him out of his home and gain his wife's confidence.

His advice the crocodile followed and he was back happy with his wife.

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

. " Swamy " swamymain

Sat, November 3, 2007 12:20 pm

Sai Ram. Let us continue with the Spiritual Gems from the chapter 25 of Shri

Sai Satcharitra. Sai Ram.

SSS: Prayer

Hemadpant closes this Chapter with a prayer. " Oh Sai Sad-guru, the wish

fulfilling tree of the Bhaktas, Let us never forget and lose sight of Your Feet;

we have been troubled with the ins and outs (births and deaths) in this samsar;

now free us from this cycle of births and deaths. Restrain us from the outgoing

of our senses to their objects and introvert us and bring us face to face with

the Atma (Self). As long as this outgoing tendency of the senses and the mind is

not checked, there is no prospect of self-realisation. Neither son, nor wife nor

friend will be of any use in the end. It is only You, Who will give us salvation

and happiness. Destroy completely our tendency for discussions and other evil

matters, let out tongue get a passion for chanting Your name. Drive out our

thoughts, good or otherwise and make us forget our bodies and houses, and do

away with our egoism. Make us ever remember Your name and forget all other

things. Remove the restlessness of our

mind, and make it steady and calm. If you just clasp us, the darkness of night

of our ignorance will vanish and we shall live happily in Your light. That You

made us drink the nectar of Your Leelas and awakened us from our slumber is due

to Your grace and our store of merits in past births " .

SSG: Sai Ram. We also join in the above prayer and bow to Sai Sadguru. Sai

Ram.

SSS: Note :- In this connection the following extract from Damu Anna's

statement mentioned above, is worth perusal, (Page 76).

" Once when I sat at His Feet along with many others, I had two questions in my

mind and He gave answers to both.

(1) There are so many crowding to Sai Baba. Do they all get benefit from Him?

To this, He replied orally - " Look at the mango tree in blossom. If all the

flowers brought fruit, what a splendid crop it would be. But do they? Most fall

off (either as flowers or as unripe fruits) by wind etc. Very few remain " .

SSG: Sai Ram. But even that short interaction with a Sadguru will not go in

waste. They will progress slowly but steadily in their path in future. Sai Ram.

SSS: (2) The second question was about myself. If Baba were to pass away, how

hopelessly a drift I would be and how am I to fare then? To this Baba answered

that He would be with me when and wherever I thought of Him. That promise He had

kept up before 1918 and has been keeping it up even after 1918. He is still with

me. He is still guiding me. This was about 1910-11, when brothers separated from

me and my sister died, and there was a theft and police enquiry, all of which

incidents upset me very much.

When my sister died, my mind was much upset. I did not care for life and

enjoyments. When I went to Baba, He pacified me with His Upadesh and made me eat

a feast of Pooran Poli at Appa Kulkarni's house and get pasted with sandal.

There was a theft in my house. A thirty year's friend of mine stole my wife's

jewel-box, including her auspicious Nathi (nose-ring). I wept before Baba's

photo. The next day, the man returned the jewel-box and prayed for pardon.

SSG: Sai Ram. He always said that He was not limited by His body and if we

keep His assurance given above that even after His leaving the physical body His

tomb and His bones will be discussing our welfare should be sufficient for us.

There are other incidents where He showed His freedom from the limitations of

space and time. Sai Ram.

Bow to Shri Sai - Peace be to all
