Guest guest
Predominance fo Sattva - Purity Tatra Sattvam nirmalatvaat prakasakamanaamayam Sukhasangena badhnaati jnaanasangena caanagha. " (Gita 14:6) " Of these, Sattva being pure illuminates and is flawless. It bings (O, sinless one) by creating attachment for happiness and knowledge. " (Gita 14:6) Tatra Sattvam nirmalatvaat - Out of the three modes of nature, Sattva is pure and without flaws and therefore it is conducive to the knowledge of God Realization. Prakaashakam - Sattva being stainless and pure is the illuminator. As in light, all objects are clearly visible, similiarly with the predominance of Sattva guna (purity), all the propensities of Rajo (passion) guna and Tamo (ignorance, inertia) guna are clearly seen. Desire, anger, greed, pride and envy etc. which manifest from Rajo and Tamo guna, all these flaws are clearly seen in that light. In other words, there is knowledge and awareness of all these changes. With the predominance of sattva guna (purity), the senses become illumed, aware, conscious, subtle and light, and the mind works more promptly and fully engages and supports in understanding mundane, as well as, spiritual things. The quality of sattva can be divided into two parts - 1) pure sattva where the aim is God Realization and 2) impure sattva, where there is desire for mundane pleasures, accumulation of things. With the predominance of the mode of purity (Sattva,), a spiritual aspirant, has a natural inclination and aim of God Realization, while a person possessing the mode of impure Sattva, hankers after worldly pleasures and prosperity, which lead him to bondage. Even in the impure Sattva, the intellect scans and grasps worldly objects properly and minutely. However not having the aim of God Realization, they remain bonded with the world due to their pride, desire for name and fame, praise and money etc.
