Guest guest
1. Death is Coming Nearer Every Moment The Truth is that we are dying every moment. Death is coming nearer every moment. That which we do not want to come close, is coming closer every moment; and that which we do not wish for it to leave, is leaving us every moment. This separation is taking place every moment and continuously like a dhaara (continuous flow of water) Self remains forever. The only one we can depend on is the one that stays with us forever. Therefore in Gita it is said by God in Gita 12:7 " Mrtyu sansaar saagar " This world is an ocean of death (Gita 12:7). Death and death alone and nothing else besides death. But in Gita 12:7, God says that " Those whose minds are fixed on Me, I straightaway deliver them from the ocean of the death-bound world. " Therefore leave all attachments and call out to God. The greatest mistake is considering the insentient as our very own. But the truth is what Mirabai says - Only God is Mine, No One Else is " " Mere toh Giridhar Gopal, dusero na koyi. " We believe in the first part, God is Mine and I am God's, but we falter in the second half, which is that we do not belong to anyone else and no one else is ours besides God. The importance in refuge is of the 'no one else' " exclusivity " . Simply speaking, we are here to serve all, but when it comes to taking from the world, we have no such rights. We have no right on anyone else. Nothing remains with us for ever, neither fame, name, respect or anything else, then why do you consider it to be ours? When we cannot make something just like the way we want it, we cannot change it, e.g. even this body we have limited control over. We cannot stop it from dying or sometimes even changing it's shape, weight, appearance etc. Then what do we have control over ? what can we consider our own ? Then why do we cling to it ? We will have to leave it some day. Therefore God has said in the Gita " Mamekum sharanam vraja.... " Leaving the dependency of all dharmas, you simply and exclusively take refuge in Me alone. I will release you from all your sins, do not worry. (Gita 18:66). The truth is that in the end only God will remain. ======== 2. Nine Easy Ways of Renouncing Affinity for the World Nine Easy Ways of Renouncing Affinity for the World 1) Render service to the world, with the materials / possessions acquired from the world 2) Renounce desire for mundane pleasures and prosperity 3) Entirely renounce dependence on the world 4) Renounce the sense of " I " and " Mine " , with body and world 5) Stick firmly to that which is real " Sat " - " I am God's and God is Mine. " 6) Have a firm resolve, an exclusive aim - " I must realize God. " 7) Perform your duties, as sanctioned by the scriptures, scrupulously (Gita 18:45) 8) Give importance to your own experience, that the body, it's strength, abilities, circumstances, are not the same as they were in childhood. They have all changed, while I " Self " am still the same. 9) Do no accept your assumed affinity with the World.
