Guest guest
Suppose I am the mind or intellect (also referred to as subtle body in the sriptures). Let's take the case of the happy person; where is this happines? It is in the mind. So happiness belongs to the mind. If that is the case, I should always be happy. But my happiness is not eternal, because the mind which is a bundle of thoughts is contantly changing according to circumstances. If I can stand aprt from my thoughts and look at my thoughts going through so many changes, then I am obviously not my thoughts or I am not the mind. So whom I? If I am not this and I am not that -- I should be beyond changes, conditioning and limitations. This implies that the real 'I' is not bound to the limitations of body, mind and intellect. Nisidhya Nikhilopadhin Neti Netiti Vakyatah Vidyadaikyam Mahavakyaih Jivatmaparamatmanoh (3)) " After eradicating all the conditioning by the process of 'neti neti', i.e., 'not this, not this', there is identify between individual soul (or Jeeva) and Supreme Soul (Brahman or Atman). According to great statements of the scriptures -- That is the ultimate realisation " . Contd....
