AATHREYA - Auspicious Days Ahead

1. Wednesday, 16 January 2008 is Budha Ashttami aka MahaaBhadra Ashttami,

MahaaRudra Ashttami, Kaala Ashttami, eighth day of Pushya Maasam, Pushya Suddha

Ashttami.

This day is auspicious for Yama Dharma Raaja, VeeraBhadra and Maheshwara.

2. Saturday, 19 January 2008 is Koorma Dwaadasi. Vishnu as Koorma Avathaar –

Giant Tortoise, supported Mandara Parvatham (mountain) on His back enabling

Devas and Daanavas to churn Milky Ocean in their quest to obtain Amruth , nectar

of eternal life.

For all those devotees observing fast on Ekaadasi, they should continue their

fast next day i.e.Dwaadasi during the first quarter of Dwaadasi hours after

Sunrise. This period is known as Hari Vaasara Dwaadasi. They can break their

fast after the period of Hari Vaasara Dwaadasi elapses, but before Thrayodasi

begins.

For Example ; -

Day One - Ekaadasi – fast whole day.

Day Two - Say Dwaadasi hours are for twelve hours from sun rise–one fourth of 12

hrs is 3 hours ; suppose Sunrise is at 6 am – Period of Harivaasara Dwaadasi is

from 6 am to 9 am; Fast to be broken only after 9 am but before Thrayodasi sets

in .

3. Wednesday, 30 January 2008 is again Ashttami same as 16 January 2008, the

only difference being this is BahuLa Ashttami, 22nd day of Pushya Maasam also

referred as Day of Ashttakam.

May Yama Dharma Raaja, Veera Bhadra, Maheshwara, Mahaa Rudra,

Mahaa Kaala Bless me, You, One and All all over the World.
