The Master

What is this entity called 'Master'? Is it an entity of the five

elements or is it something beyond?

It is one who has realised God. A Master is a Siddha Purusha. Jnaneswara

recognized his own brother Sri Nivrithinath, who was his Guru as no

other than Paramathman, who is indescribable and who is beyond your

description or perception, Nivrithinath. The Master felt that his

disciple had not done anything more than a mere translation of the Gita.

He wanted him to go beyond by writing 'AMRITANUBHAV', his own immortal

experiences, by blessing him. Jnaneswara, then, wrote a few hundred

slokas for the benefit of humanity.

When you meet your Guru, your karma ends. Life begins with vasanas like

rivers which start in mountains like small streams and ever growing

until they reach the ocean. The individual soul has to reach its Guru,

the Master. It has to merge in its own entity. Jivathma is a tiny lime

speck and it loses itself in the form of Siva. The aim of everyone

should be to reach Sivahood. The Sufis also try the same thing,

" Wherever I go, I find you alone and nothing else. Why do you hide

yourself at all; Come to me. The Master, Guru or Siddha is the highest

stage, the Nirguna stage, which is beyond description or perception.

Vasana sets in the moment there are hankering after anything. Without

Ahankar, the jiva cannot become Siva but only satvic ahankar is needed.

If you have humility or prapatti, even then, you can become Siva. For

this you have to do sadhana. Without it you cannot reach Sivahood.

Practise looking at the lord for a moment; you will desire, gradually,

to look at him always. Madhuri Bhav of the Gopis is an illustration. The

Jiva must be the receiver to receive the power of Brahman.
