" What is the importance of Satsang? "

 

One of the Mahatmas explained this thru a dialogue

between Devarshi Narada and Lord Narayana..and the

sequence of events thus happened.

 

Narada asks this question to the Lord in anticipation

of getting it clarified from the god.

Lord instead of answering, he directs Narada to put

this question to a tiny, dirty creature taking birth

at the same time.

Narada, Wondered about the suggestion but with all the

love and respect to the Lord Narayana visits the new

born creature and asks the question " What is the

importance of Satsang? "

Listening to the question, the creature dies

instantly.

Confused by this, Narada approached Lord, narrates the

incident and requests to clarify his doubt.

Lord Naraya, directs him to ask this to to be born

calf.

Wondering again, Narada does as directed by his Lord.

Comes to earth, asks this question to the new born

calf. To his astonishment, the moment the calf dies on

the very moment it listens to the question.

Shocked with what happened, Narada went back to

Vaikuntha and asks Lord in a frustrated voice to

clarify his doubt rather than making him shuttle

between earth and vaikunta.

Lord Narayana smilingly directs him this time to

approach a to be born prince on earth.

Fearing what would happen to the new born if he asks

the question, but as he has no other means of getting

his doubt clarified, Narada approached the new born

prince on earth and asks this question " What is the

importance of Satsang? "

The very moment the prince saw Narada, he turns around

in a prostrating approach and expresses his gratitude

to Narada saying

Oh sage How lukcy I am that I could have the Darshan

of such a great sage thrice

Once as he was born as a creature, the punya of that

darshan relieved him of his sins to take a better

janma as calf

Second time he had the darshana of Sage Narada as new

born calf. This time he is blessed to take better and

most valuable janma as a prince.

Thus the new born goes on explaining, if Darshana of

sage gives such a Punya. How much punya will be given

by the company of great saints(satsang)
