I thought of sharing with you all the " AKSHAYATHRIDIYA AND

KANAKADHARA YAJNAM " message from Kalady Devaswom, Kerala:

Sri Krishna Temple

Adi Sankara Kula Deva Kshethram

AKSHAYATHRIDIYA AND KANAKADHARA YAJNAM

5 – 9 May 2008

Sri Krishna–(Thrikaladyappan)– has always been prime refuge of Adi

Sankara, being his Kula Deva. Once in childhood days of Sankara, his

beloved mother Arya Devi fainted on the way to river Periyar (Poorna)

while going for her routing bath. Helpless, little Sankara with

tears took refuge of his Kula Deva Sri Krishna, who blessed: " the

river will flow where you mark with your feet. " Instantly the

innocent child marked with his feet on the ground before Krishna, and

mighty Periyar changed its course through the marking, touching lotus

foot of Krishna and getting consecrated. The risk of mile long walk

of Arya Devi for daily river bath was resolved with the blessing of

Lord Krishna.

The village " Sasalam " become Kaledy (`foot mark') and blessed Apat

Bandhavan became Thri Kalady Appan (Lord of Kalady) with the holy

ghat became " arattukadavu " . Sankara did Puna: Prathishta of Sree

Krishna deity to the present divine shrine on that Thiruvonam day of

Thulam in AD 795.

Another instance of Sankara, taking refuge of Thri Kalady Appan was

while going for " biksha " as part of Upanayanam. He came across the

house of an old lady who had nothing but a dried amalka to offer for

biksha with her burning tears of helpless poverty. Deeply touched

and moved by her condition, once again he took refuge of his Krishna

with his poetic hymn " Kanakadhara Sthotram. " The golden amalkas of

fortune and prosperity showered into the doorsteps of that poor lady

the moment the sthotra was concluded.

The magnificent slokas of Kanakadhara Sthavam is especially

noticeable for its poetic touch.

The Trustees of Kalady Devaswom place humble namaskaraas for

continued blessings and patronage of Sri Sri Sringeri Sarada Peetham

and Thekkemadhom Moopil Swamiyar.

Akshaya Thridiya Kanakadhara Yajnam

Kanaka Dhara Sthothram is re-recited for all of us at the temple of

Lakshmy Pathy, with the current successor of the blessed fortunes

from family of Swarnath Mana, decorating `Agrasthanam' successors of

Pazhoor Mana, the family of Sree Sankara's maternal uncle,

Thalayattumpilly and Kapilly Manas the only two out of ten

Namboothiri families now existing at Kalady, also are participating.

A chosen group of 32 Archakas representing 32 years of life of

Sanakara will be reciting the Kanaka Dhara Sthothram 10,008 times

with `vruthasudhi' and `thantricnistha'. Devotees could get the

Kanaka Dhara Sthothram recited in their name and nakshatra before

merciful Thrikaladyappan-Kula Deva of Adi Sankara.

The Thanthri for the Yajnam would be Brahmasree Avanaparambu Pradeep

Namboothiripad.

A talisman of Kanaka Dhara Yanthra or Elass will be delivered as

parasadam marking your fortunate participation. Those who already

participated in the Yajnam of 2005 and 2007 were offered a Punarpooja

of their Yanthra after two years and can get it done during this

time. The Yanthra is made as per the Yanthra Vidhi instructions of

Kanipayyoor Namboothiripad and as per Kerala thantric rituals.

Keeping of the Yanthra in the pooja room / place of business with

dhoopa (agarbathi) and neyvilakku (ghee lamp) on Fridays are

considered best for the enhancing of powers of the Yanthra.

This year Kanaka Dhara Yajnam will be conducted from 5 to 9 May

2008. Devotees can receive prasadam on 7 May 2008, the Akshaya

Tridiya Day, the best time of the year to get blessed Gold. The

Crystal charged with Kanaka Dhara Sthothram chants covered with Gold

is called the Golden Amalka and is available for those blessed

devotees. One could wear this as a locket in their chain or can keep

in the poojaroom.

Personal presence in the unique holy event, hearing of the hymns and

darshan of merciful Thrikaladyappan, Sri Krishna is the greatest for

fortune.
