Guest guest
The ever-present self needs no efforts to be realised, Realisation is already there, Illusion alone is to be removed. O Arunachala! Without being as a mirror held before a noseless person, lift me up and embrace me. When the mind turns away from objects, it beholds its source, Consciousness. This is Self-abidance. The results of Karma (Action) pass away, and yet leave seeds that cast the agent into an ocean of Karma. Karma yields no salvation When the mind comes to the end of its resources and stands baffled before the unanswerable question, 'Who am I?', then a Higher Power takes charge of The mind and the Self stands revealed, the Real, the Wonderful. 'If you are quiet, you do the greatest service. One who is always quiet in Self-abidance (atma-nishta) is doing greater service to the Guru than one who does some service physically'. 'If one wants to commit suicide, even a small implement or knife is sufficient, but for murdering others bigger weapons are required. Similarly, for oneself one or two words are sufficient, but to convince others books and books are to be written.' 'It is always safer to use valueless and ordinary things, because then no one will care to cast a greedy eye upon them'. One who does work without feeling the sense of doership escapes misery and unhappiness. One should not allow the mind to dwell much upon worldly matters. As far as possible, one should not interfere in the affairs of others. All that one gives to others, one gives only to oneself. If this truth is known, who indeed will not give to others? The body is insentient, the Self does not rise. Within the body's limit an 'I' rises, between teh body and Self. It is named 'ego', 'knot of matter and spirit', 'bondage', 'subtle body', and 'mind'. Both likes and dislikes should be equally discarded and eschewed. You should look upon the world only as a dream. By withdrawing the mind within, you can live anywhere and under any circumstances. Truly there is no cause for you to be miserable and unhappy. You yourself impose limitations on your true nature of infinite being, and then weep that you are but a finite creature.
