AATHREYA - NRUSIMHA JAYANTHI

28th Mahaayugam - Kali – Year 5109, Chaandramaana Vaisaakha Maasa Shukla

Paksham SUNDAY, 18 MAY 2008 - NRUSIMHA JAYANTHI - CHAANDRAMAANA VAISAAKHA

SUDDHA CHATHURDASI Nrusimha Chathurdasi

HiraNya Kashipa, son of Kashyapa Brahma and Dithi, is the elder brother of

Hiranyaaksha who was killed by Yajna Varaaha Vishnu.

HiraNya Kaship is a Shiva Baktha, a disciple of Brahma, but Anti Vishnu. His

wife, Leelaavathi whilepregnant was abducted by Indra, but rescued by Devarshi

Naarada Mahamuni. Naarada Maharshi saw through the confinement of Leelaavathi,

all the while narrating Vishnu stories. In due course Leelaavathi gave birth to

a son, Prahlaada. Naarada Muni restored Leelavathi and Prahlaad safely back to

HiraNya Kashipa.

To the chagrin of Anti Vishnu HiraNya Kaship, his son Prahlaada became an ardent

Vishnu Devotee. HiraNya Kaship tried by all means,Saama, Daana, Bedha and Danda

Upaayas - that is by cajoling, by being nice and finally by severe punishment,

but failed to turn Prahlaada away from Vishnu.

The matters reached a point of no return and when in a fit of uncontrollable

rage HiraNya kaship kicked a pillar in his mad search for Omnipresent Mahaa

Vishnu, God appeared as A Man Lion (NARA SIMHA),

killed HiraNya Kaship and saved Prahlaada, whose grandson Bali was promised

Indra Position. Om Sarvathra Rakshathu Narasimha Swaamine Namha Om. Om Shaanthi
