Guest guest
" Allah Is My Doctor " says Sai Baba Reference to context: In the year 1910, Baba was sitting near The Dhuni on Diwali, and warming Himself. He was pushing firewood into the Dhuni, which was brightly burning. A little later instead of pushing logs of wood, Baba pushed His arm into The Dhuni. The arm was scorched and burnt. This was noticed by the errant boy Madhava and also by Madhav Rao Deshpande (Shama) They, at once, ran to Baba and Madhava Rao clasped Baba, by His waist from behind and dragged Him forcibly backward and asked, " Deva, for what you have done this? " Then Baba came to his senses and replied, " The wife of a Blacksmith at some distant place was working the bellows of a furnace, her husband called her, forgetting that her child was on her lap, she got up hastily and the child slipped into the furnace. I immediately thrust my hand info the furnace and saved the child. I do not mind My arm being burnt, but, I am glad that the life of the child is saved " . In the same chapter VII, same page 42 of Shirdi Sai Satcharitha under the Caption " Leper Devotees Service " it reads: " On hearing the news of Baba's hand being burnt from (Shama) Madhavrao Deshpande, Mr. Nanasaheb Chandorkar accompanied by the famous doctor Paramanand of Mumbai with his medical outfit, consisting of ointments, lint and bandages etc., rushed to Shirdi and requested Baba to allow Dr. Paramanand to examine the arm and dress the wound caused by the burn. This was refused. Ever since the burn, the Leper devotee, Bhagoji Shinde, dressed the arm. His treatment consisted in massaging the burnt part with ghee and then, placing a leaf over it and bandaged it tightly. Mr. Nanasaheb Chandorkar solicited Baba many a time to unfasten the bandages, get the wound examined, dressed and treated by Dr. Paramanand, with the object that it may heal fast. Dr. Paramanand himself made similar requests, but Baba postponed, saying that " Allah was His Doctor " and did not allow His arm to he examined. Now, if such things (burning our hands or we suffer from the ailment, injury etc, to our bodies) we run to a doctor to get cured from the malady. This is all due To our body consciousness (deha abhiman). But, Saints have no body consciousness. They always abide in the self. (Spirit consciousness) Bodies are like shadows to them if we cut the shadow or torture it, nothing happens. So, nothing happens to their bodies. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa says: " Let the disease and the body look after each other. Oh, Mind, you always be happy (in Bliss) (by with drawing from The worldly activities & abiding in the self) " Sri Ramana Maharishi's thigh was operated umpteen times. But, he was calm and composed, (never bothered about his body) Why? Because he had no body consciousness and firmly abided in the Self, (became one with Clod, like our Baba) Sri Sivanesa Swamiji of Shirdi died of cancer. Before leaving the body, he was continuously meditating on Baba. When devotees from Hyderabad went to see him, he told them not to worry about his health condition (suffering from cancer) but advised them to do " Nama Japa " (Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai) constantly. We mortals have no control over our body, senses and mind with the result they control us. (We have become slaves to them, instead of becoming slave to God) So, we are in the grip of Yoga Maya (Illusory power of God). From the Mind, the first thought (the ego, I) starts functioning the bundle of thoughts follows it (all worldly). Maya is God's illusory power, Parashakti. Lord Krishna says to his friend and disciple Arjuna in Bhagavadgeeta Text.4-r> that " Intelligence, Knowledge, freedom from doubt and delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, control of the senses and mind, happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, nonviolence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, fame and infame - all these various qualities of living beings are created by Me alone " So, God (His Power- Parasakthi) is the doer, but due to ignorance, we think that we are the doers (body consciousness) and thus entangle ourselves in endless miseries and sufferings (Punarapi Jananam, Punarapi Maranam). What is the remedy to get over (to come out of this illusion of Maya) and attain salvation? The one and only way is that we should surrender tan, man, dhan (body, mind all possession) to our Samartha Sadguru Sainath Maharaj and always remember him think over his sayings, read his stories (Leelas) meditate on Him, always chant his taraka mantra " Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai " which is the easiest path to attain salvation in this Kaliyuga (iron age) Om Tat Sat Om Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi!!!
