Guest guest
Dear Members, Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji In the village of Tiruvisanallur in South India lived Sridhar ayyaval, a Mahatma. He followed Bhagavata Dharma and was a great Siva Bhakta. He performed incessant japa of Siva Nãma (Name of Lord Siva). A native of Mysore he later he moved to Tiruvisanallur and lived there. He was an adept in all the Shastrãs. Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra, Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodendra, Sridhar ayyaval were all contemporaries. Sridhar ayaval was deeply compassionate. Once, a householder came searching for Sridhar ayaval to learn about the expiation ceremony to be performed for a sin that he had committed. But, Ayyaval ( Sridhar ayaval) sent him away to find somebody else for this. The householder asked him the reason for sending him away thus. Sridhar ayaval explained, “Everything in the world appears to be ‘Sivaswaroopa’ (very form of Siva). Only if I deem you to be a sinner can I offer any expiation rites for it!” and sent him away. Sri Bhagawan Naama Bodendra Saraswathi Swamigal A single Divine Name is so powerful that one cannot commit as many sins as it can erase even if he were to take a vow to commit only sins.
