Guest guest
Happiness - Fully Engaged in God A poet has written - " Caha gayi cintaa miti, manuvaa beparavaa; Jisko kachu ne chaayiye, soyi shaahamshaah. " When desires are gone, all worries come to an end, and one becomes totally carefree. One who needs nothing, sleeps peacefully without any care. Therefore one point must be clarified - It is not the absence of things that leads to unhappiness, it is the feeling of lacking or feeling of absence, that causes unhappiness. Just like on an auspicious (ekadashi) day, one person willingly fasts, while another person, forcibly ends up fasting due to not having any money for food. Both did not have food, but one is gladly keeping the fast and feels happy, whereas the other person, feels unhappy due to not having any food. Therefore it is the feeling of not having (absence) which creates the unhappiness. If the unhappiness came from actually not having those things, then the ascetics / monks would be undergoing immense unhappiness, because they have nothing - no wife, no wealth, no clothes, no cars, no houses, nor have they accumulated any provisions for their future well-being. But in spite of not having any of these things, they are all happy, many great kings and wealthy men come to them and resolve their inner problems and become happy. The reason for this is that even in the lack of material things, they experience the eternal feeling of divinity - Existence, Consciousness and Bliss (sat-chit-anand) God (Supreme Consciousness) and become blissful within. Therefore however much is lacking, man must not experience this lack, and instead must remain engaged in the essence of God. He who does not experience the lack of something or feeling of shortage or not having things, that one will not become entangled and feel sad in unfavorable times, rather he will see this as an opportunity to wash away his past sins and will remain ever happy seeing the presence of God's grace Therefore our aim must at all times be only towards God Realization. In other words, remain ever indifferent to worldly objects and things, and completely disallow the longing for these things in the mind. At the same time, quickly one must become fully engaged in God, by doing spiritual practices such as chanting God's name at all times, doing prayers and reading holy books etc. with a selfless spirit. In Kaliyug he who at all times, silently, with a selfless spirit, with attentiveness, with joy and respect, only chants and recites God's name, then he will surely attain God Realization easily and quickly.
