Guest guest
Agitations are NOT in You, Endure Them. You know both happiness and unhappiness. Both can be understood only by he who is separate from the two. He who becomes one with either may remain eternally happy or he may remain eternally unhappy. But he who remains even-minded in happiness and in unhappiness, he can know both, that happiness and that sorrow. Happiness is separate and unhappiness is separate. And the one who remains apart from both these, can know them both. If we blend with them, then he will be unable to know both happiness and unhappiness. Rather we will know only one, the state in which we settle. Second point, while experiencing happiness you are the same one as while experiencing unhappiness. And it is only because you are the same one, that you are able to experience them both separately. The experiencer of both happiness and sorrow separately, is apart from happiness and unhappiness. Now when will you have separate experience of happiness and unhappiness ? When you no longer remain established in Nature (Prakriti), and become established in Self " swa " . " Samdukhasukha swasthah " (Gita 14:24). Nature is constantly changing. If you become established in it, then you will constantly undergo agitations and changes. But that agitation will never be in you (self). Even in a state of ignorance, these disturbances are not in you and even in state of perfect knowledge, these disturbances are not in you. In your Self (swarup) there has never been any agitations, can never ever be any agitations. If there were agitations and disturbances then they could never be wiped out. These agitations, disturbances and changes are happening in Nature (Prakriti). To experience your Self as being separate from Nature (Prakriti) is the essence of Knowledge. It is to attain Salvation. In reality you are apart from Nature (Prakriti). To understand this point, you please have mercy, please pay a little attention. You are not the one to come and go. It is the subject of the sense organs to give happiness and sorrow through favorable and unfavorable situations. They come and go and they are not permanent; therefore you endure them. " Maatresparshaarstu kaunteya, shitoshnasukhadukhadaa Aagamapaayinonityaa staanstitikshasva bharat. " (Gita 2:14) It is not a rule that before realizing God, all agitations of the mind come to an end. But after God Realization, all agitations of the mind definitely come to an end. " Rasoyapyasya param drushtvaa nivartate " (Gita 2:59). " The agitations of the mind in the form of relish, pleasure and delight come to an end, on realizing God. " (Gita 2:59). There is one very important and extremely beneficial point in this verse. I pray, that you inquire into this deeply and try to understand. We desire to come across favorable individuals, things, situations, circumstances etc. and we do not want to come across unfavorable individuals, things, situations etc. - this is life. This world and this life is nothing beyond the favorable and unfavorable situations. The impression that favorable and unfavorable situations, individuals etc. have on us, that in itself is called changes for the worse like " agitations of the mind " (vikaar). We need to become free from these destructive changes, because as long as there are these agitations, there will not be any peace. Try to inquire into where exactly are these agitations ? The agitations are in the mind , intellect, and in the inner faculties (antahakaran). Rather these deteriorating states are in the instrument (karan), they are not in the one who is using the instrument (kartaa). This is the most important point to understand. You received a favorable situation and you became happy, and when something unfavorable came your way, you became unhappy. There are two states - the happy state and the unhappy state. In these two states, were you two or did you remain one ? Contemplate on this point. You remained the same one both in favorable times and unfavorable times - isn't that true? In essence, those changing states are happening in the mind - intellect, but you believe them to be happening in you (Self) - this is the mistake. In happy or unhappy states you believe your self to be happy or unhappy. The impressions of happiness and sorrow happen in the inner faculties, but do you (Self) become happy or sad? You consider all these agitations of the mind to be in you. In reality, these changing states, these agitations are not in the you (Self) at all, they are in the inner faculty.
