Dear friends and devotees,

Bhakti is eternal.

1. Guru Purnima

Whatever the old poets and writers have written in the past holds good even

today. Kabir wrote, " Guru is a washer-man, his disciple a cloth, soaps the

creator, washed on the stone of knowledge, this gives out utmost light

brightness. " This couplet of Kabir throws light on the relation of a guru

(master) to a disciple; who washes away the dirt (bad element) in the mind of

the disciple and thus makes him clean, pure and pious. He expects from almighty

that by his blessings, he should enlighten his inner conscience.

In our Hindu culture, a Guru has to be remembered, even before the parents and

the God.

gururbrahma gururvishNuhu gururdEvO mahESwaraha,

gurusaakshaat parabrahma tasmai Srii guravEnamaha.

The above stotra is clear that the Guru is nothing but the Trinity.

In a tree, the healthy of root is important for the survival of the same.

In the human tree, the root is childhood. So it is the obligation of every one,

to see that childhood of the human, should cultivate good mannerism and grow in

a healthy manner and then only the human tree will have good life. Today¢s

children are only tomorrow¢s citizen. That is the reason, in remembrance of the

ensuing Gurupurnima day; I am sending some small articles of Gurubhakti, which

are so simple and understandable to children.

Guru Purnima day the full moon day in Ashada is of great importance in relation

to a guru and disciple. On this day a disciple, expresses his gratitude to his

Guru and makes some offerings. This is the day that strengthens the teacher

student bond. This year it falls on 18th of this month.

Swami Sri Sivanandji had given more details on Gurupurnima and I am sending the

same as No. 2.Gurupurnima.

With love and regards,

Sastry
