SEARCH

FOR TRUTH

There

is no one way to get free from the trap of worldly passions. Suppose you caught

a snake, a crocodile, a bird, a dog, a fox and a monkey, six creatures of very

different natures, and you tie them together with a strong rope and let them

go. Each of these six creatures will try to go back to its own lair by its own

method; the snake will- seek a covering of grass, the crocodile will seek

water, the bird will want to fly in the air, the dog will seek a village, the

fox will seek the solitary ledges, and the monkey will seek the trees of a

forest. In the attempt of each to go its own way there will be a struggle, but,

being tied together by a rope, the stronger at any one time will drag the rest.

Like

the creatures in this parable, man is tempted in different ways by the desires

of his six senses, eyes, ears, nose, tongue, touch and mind, and is controlled

by the predominant desire.

If

the six creatures are all tied to a post, they will try to get free until they

are tired out, and then will lie down by the post. Just like this, if people

will train and control the mind there will be no further trouble from the other

five senses. If the mind is under control people will have happiness both now

and in the future.

People

love their egoistic comfort, which is a low of fame and praise. But fame and

praise are like incense that consumes it self and soon disappears. If people

chase after honors and public acclaim and leave the way of truth, they are in

serious danger and will soon have cause for regret.

A

man who chases after fame and wealth and love affairs is like a child who licks

honey from the blade of a knife. While tasting the sweetness of honey, he has a

risk hurting his tongue. He is like a man who carries a torch against a strong

wind; the flame will surely burn his hands and face.

One

must not trust his own mind that is filled with greed, anger and foolishness.

One must not let his mind run free, but must keep it under strict control.

3. SAI IN DREAMS

http://www.ettitudemedia.com

These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSaji From our

beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRDI. In Anticipation that this feature will

help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and

presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

JANUARY-1996

19-01-1966

Yesterday

night, Sai appeared in the form of an unknown person and gave a message-

To

sustain in materialistic life, money is necessary, wrong ways and means adopted

to earn money is dangerous. Whereas in the field of spiritualism, devotion is

needed for progress. Quitting the wrong path for the sake of earning divine

grace is commendable.

Good

and bad co-exist. Wisdom should prevail to follow the right always.

22-01-1996

Sai

appeared in the form of a Saibandhu arrived from Shirdi and spoke the following

words:

1.

Entertain your guests with good words.

2.

Seek blessings from those who are truly interested in your welfare.

3.

Never aspire for money favors from others as often headaches are bound to

accompany such donations.

4.

As a Sai devotee, never crave for fame, as it attracts lot of  Criticism too.

A

true Satsanghi should be free from desires.

23-01-1996

Sai

appeared in the form of a woman and said-

It

is a sin to give birth to children when you are not prepared to shoulder the

total responsibility. It is still bigger crime to give away them in adoption,

unable to bring up.

Every

relationship has a past history and made for settlement of certain old dues..

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI

SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

‘Shashi’: shashi_31

32. Significance of Meditation

We will behold beauty; we will taste

Nectar, smell fragrance, hear Divine Voice and find joy. Meditate for this

purpose and our daily needs are fulfilled without asking God. By constant

meditation, we will get supernatural experiences such as Clair audience Clair

voyance and yogic postures.  In meditation, the power of our memory

increases.

Through meditation, Divinity inspired mutual

respect grows between husband and wife. Brothers and sisters see the Divine in

each other and the relationship between children, parents and in-laws are

filled with a Divine Emotion. This is known as ‘Svargamaya Samsara’. Life will

be filled with heaven. This is the fruit of Meditation.

We should strive for this equanimity. This

means, renounce disharmony and differentiation. As we dwell on oneness and live

within it, distinctions fade away from our hearts. Awareness of oneness is the

true essence of all. It is PARAMA BRAHMA.

By doing meditation some develop extraordinary

knowledge of past, present and future events. Some receive warnings of

forthcoming mishaps. They talk and receive instructions from Gods and

Goddesses. They obtain insight into spiritual matters and readily find

solutions to problems. They also require ability to see colors in their

meditation. Some will see Red, White, Black, Blue and Saffron colours.

SAI IN MY LIFE

Sai

Baba of Shirdi is known by people in general as someone capable of performing

incredible miracles. It will be the height of folly and ignorance if one

worships Him in the hope of some miraculous solution to one’s problems. The

miracles that Sai performs are innumerable, but one has to develop the

capability to understand them. If we analyze events (pleasant or unpleasant) of

our daily life, we will very clearly understand that miracles are taking place

daily in our lives. Sai Baba taught to the devotees about the immutable law of

‘Karma’. You get what you deserve. Someone may ask if it is so, then what is

the need of Sai or any Sadguru? My own answer to this is that it is the grace

of the Guru which enables us to work out our ‘Karmas’ and to engage ourselves

in earning and storing spiritual merits. It is a Sadguru like Sai who makes us

bear the burdens of life with hope and cheer. Sai has promised in unequivocal

terms, “YOU LOOK TO ME AND I WILL LOOK TO YOU:” and “CAST ALL YOUR BURDENS ON

ME AND I WILL CARRY THEM.”

Miracles

are more fascinating to the people in general. Let me go back to miracles that

I have personally experienced.

Will

you not call it a miracle if a person who passed away on 15th. October, 1915

appears before you in February, 1978 in broad daylight and says to you, “Allah

tumhara bhala kare” and “Allah tumhare bete ka bhala kare”? Believe me, this

happened to me. Now I give the details of this experience of mine. There is an

old “Mahamrityunjaya’ temple inside the precincts of the fort of Baghel Kings

of Rewa state. Every year on ‘Shivratri’ there is a huge crowd of devotees and

there is a fair or ‘mela’ on the spacious lawns around the temple. It has been

my practice to visit this temple frequently.

On

Shivratri I always visited this temple every year along with my wife and

children. I used to reach the temple as early as possible to avoid the crowd of

devotees which reached its peak at about mid-day. On this particular day of

February, 1978, I remembered the story of Megha, a devotee of Sai Baba, during

the latter’s life time. Megha regarded Baba a living Shiva and would bathe Him

with ‘Gangajal’ on auspicious occasions like Makar Sankranti. As we were about

to leave for the temple, I asked my wife to carry some ‘Gangajal’ with which we

will bathe the Shivlinga. At the temple the devotees had to stand in two

separate queues, one for the ladies and the other for men. Thus my wife and

daughter were in one ‘Q’ while my son and myself were in another one. I do

not know rituals, nor do I have much liking for them.

I

touched the Sivlinga, placed my head on the floor, poured Ganagjal over the

Linga, offered flowers, belpatra etc. while mumbling “Om Namah Shivaya” and

“Jai jai Shankar deendayala, jai jai Sainath kripala”. Along with my son, I

came out of the temple and waited for my wife and daughter to join us. There

was a long row of beggars with palms outstretched. I had in my pocket many

coins of small denominations, which I had carried to give to the beggars.

All of a sudden there stood before me a person who was an exact replica of Sai

Baba as we see Him in the now familiar photos.

My

son excitedly said to me, “Papa, this is Sai Baba” and I replied, “Yes, He is

Sai Baba”. I gave all the coins in my pocket to Him and asked my son to give

Him some coins. He was pleased to get the coins and He smiled and said, “Allah

tumhara bhala kare; Allah tumhare bete ka bhala kare.” His smile was Divine,

and words cannot describe the divine charm of that face. What I experienced on

that Shivratri in the Mahamrityunjaya temple left me in a mental state that can

only be called bliss. In a short while my wife and daughter joined us and we

searched the whole Mela area, but there was no trace of the Fakir who was none

other than Sai Baba. Instead of trying to analyze the above experience, I will

like to state that whether a particular happening is just a fantasy or

hallucination or a genuine experience of divinity can be best decided by the

person who experienced it. The experience itself brings with it its

authenticity. My experience was not fake; it was authentic and it was the

manifestation of Sai’s grace.

SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children

and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be

entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my

child hood.

The

Crow and the Serpent

Once

a pair of crows built a nest on a big banyan tree. They lived there in a great

happiness. One day a black serpent took shelter under the tree.  He

started living there in a hole. The crows did not like this but they could not

do anything. After some time the female crow laid eggs. In due course small

crows were hatched. The crow couple looked after their small ones with loving

care. One day while they were away in search of food, the serpent climbed the

tree. He ate up the young ones of the crows. When they came back to their nest

they found the nest empty. They were very sad. They asked other animals and

birds living there if they had seen their young ones. No one could tell them

anything. They were dejected for a long time. Finally when they got over their

sorrow, they decided that the next time they had young ones they would not leave

them alone.

Many

months passed. The female crow laid eggs once more. Once again they had young

ones. This time the crow couple was very careful. They always kept their eyes

on the young ones. One of them always remained with them. One day the female

crow

saw the big black serpent climbing the tree towards her young ones. She crowed

wildly for it to go away. But the serpent paid no heed. He ate them up. The

mother crow was heart broken. She wept bitterly. All her relatives gathered

round her. They wanted to punish the serpent but by then he had vanished in to

his hole.

When

the father crow returned in the evening, he heard the whole story. His sorrow

too knew no bounds. At last the mother crow said that they would leave the tree

and go away somewhere else. That way the tragedy would not be repeated in

future. But the father crow reasoned with her. He said that they had been

staying there for such a long time. It was their house. If any one, then, it

was the serpent who had to go.

How

could they punish the serpent? Then they remembered their friend, the cunning

old, fox who lived nearby. They would go and ask her to help them. She was sure

to have some clever way to punish the serpent. So they went to the fox. They

told her the whole story and then begged her to help them. Otherwise they would

have to leave their old banyan tree and go somewhere else.

The

fox thought for some time. Then she told them, " No, you do not have to

leave your old home. I will tell you how the serpent is to be properly

punished. "

" Tomorrow morning the royal Princess will be going to the river bank for a

bath. Before entering the water she will take off her ornaments and clothes and

keep them beside the water. There will be guards to look after them. " The

fox continued, “You make it a point to be hiding in a tree there. When nobody

is looking, one of you pick up the precious necklace of the princess and fly

away. The other one will follow making a lot of cawing sound. This would make

the guards and others see that you have taken away the necklace. They will

surely chase you. You carry the necklace to your tree and drop in on to the

hole of the serpent. Then watch the fun. "

The

crows agreed to do as they were told. The next morning the crow couple went on

to the river- bank and hid themselves among the thick branches of a tree

growing near the bank. After some time the Princess, followed by her friends,

servants and guards also reached there. The Princess and her friends took off

their clothes and ornaments and kept them at one place on the bank. Then they

entered the water and started frolicking among themselves. The crow-couple were

waiting for this opportunity. They had noticed a beautiful pearl necklace among

the ornaments of the Princess. The mother crow swooped over it, picked it up

and started flying away. The father crow followed it, cawing loudly all the

while. The servants and the guards had seen the crow pick up the necklace. They

all shouted loudly and started chasing the crows.

The

mother-crow came to the banyan-tree and dropped the necklace on the hole of the

serpent at the foot of the tree. Then she flew away.

The

chasing servants had seen the necklace falling being dropped. They reached the

foot of the banyan tree. The necklace was half inside the hole. So they tried

to take it out with the help of sticks and spears. The serpent did not like

this disturbance. He got infuriated and came out of the hole hissing

menacingly. The attendants of the Princess surrounded the serpent and beat it

to death with their sticks and weapons. They then picked up the necklace and

went back. The crow couple was watching the show from a safe distance. When

they saw that their old foe was safely dead, they both heaved a sigh of relief.

Then they lived happily ever after, increasing their family and always grateful

to their friend, the clever fox.

8.  SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

swamymain

Wednesday, 23 July, 2008, 9:34 AM

Spiritual

Gems from Sri Sai Satcharitra - chapter 29 - Part 2

Sai Ram. Let us now continue with the wonderful

story of how that Ramadasi was blessed by Sadguru Sai. Sai Ram.

Wonderful Vision

Things were going on like this, when the

husband got a wonderful vision in his dream one night as follows: - He was in a

big city; the police there had arrested him, tied his hands with a rope, and

put him up in a cage (lock-up). As the police were tightening the grip, he saw

Sai Baba standing quiet outside, near the cage.

SSG: Sai Ram. This vision has a lot of mystical

meaning. Big cities are compared to jungles (concrete jungle is a usual saying

in English). The desires and stimulations of the big city are as much binding

to a spiritual seeker as physical bondage. The real jungle no doubt holds out

its own dangers to a Sadhaka who is not in harmony with nature. Getting caught

up in materialistic desires of the samsara is represented by the big city and

the police tightening the grip on the bonds of the prisoner. And Sai represents

the Paramatma, who is always besides and is watching the Jeevatma, and waiting

for the call for help from the prisoner (the egoistic self), the Jeevatma,

which is bound by Maya. Sai Ram.

SSS: On seeing Baba so near, he said in a

plaintive tone - " Hearing Your fame I came to Your Feet and why should a

calamity befall me when You are standing here in person? " Baba said -

" You must suffer the consequences of your action " He said - " I

have not done anything in this life which would bring such a misfortune on

me. " Baba said - " If not in this life, you must have committed some sin

in your past life. "

SSG: Sai Ram. Here, in a simple sentence, Baba

is teaching us that the present difficulties are the result of past actions,

actions submerged in the past and forgotten by the individual but not by the

laws of the universe. Action begets reaction and results. Nothing goes waste in

the universe. The laws of karma are inexorable and the karmic results can only

be overcome when the cover of maya is removed and the Guru's grace shines on

us. Sai Ram.

SSS: He replied, " I do not know anything

of my past life, but assuming that I did commit some sin then, why should it

not be burnt and destroyed in Your presence, as dry grass before fire?”Baba -

" Have you got such faith? " He - " Yes. "

SSG: Sai Ram. Faith is the window to open the

limited mind to the unlimited powers of Guru's grace. Faith is the connection

through which God and Guru (we need not repeat that they are same) can connect

to us and transform us into Godhead. Sai Ram.

SSS: Baba then asked him to close his eyes. No

sooner did he shut them than he heard a thumping sound of something falling

down, and opening his eyes, he saw that he was free and the police had fallen

down, bleeding. Being much frightened he began to look at Baba who said -

" Now you are well caught, officers will now come and arrest you. "

Then he begged - " There is no other saviour except You, save me

anyhow. "

SSG: Faith is the first step in total

surrender. Saving a person may take place at several levels, physical, mental

and or spiritual. The whole thing is taking place at a higher plane when the

Madrasi Ramadasi was asleep. Sai chose His own ways of burning off the karmic

residues of spiritual sadhakas so that they can progress further on the path.

Sai Ram.

SSS: Then Baba again asked him to close his

eyes. He did so and when he opened them, he saw that he was free, out of the

cage and that Baba was by his side. He then fell at Baba's Feet. Baba then

asked him - " Is there any difference between this namaskar and your

previous ones? Think well and reply. " He said " There is a lot of

difference; my former namaskaras were offered with the object of getting money

from You, but the present namaskar is one offered to You as God.

SSG: Sai Ram. The veils of ignorance which made

the Ramadasi differentiate thus were ripped off by Sai, who was with one with

all faiths, Gods, Saints and Gurus. See what more wonderful teachings Baba

gives to that man. Sai Ram.

SSS: Then Baba said,” What more do you

want? " Then a desire arose in his mind to get the darshan of his Guru

Ramdas, when Baba asked him to turn back and see. And when he turned, lo,

Ramadas was in front of him. No sooner did he begin to fall at His Feet,

Ramadas vanished. Then he inquisitively asked Baba, " You look old. Do You

know Your age? " Baba - " What! Do you say I am old! just run a race

with Me and see. " Saying this Baba began to run and he too followed. Baba

disappeared in the dust raised by His foot-steps while running and the man was

awakened.

SSG: Sai Ram. The man was awakened not just

from his sleep but from his spiritual sleep too. He saw that Sai was one with

his Guru Ramadas. Sai also taught that physical looks and age are only facades

from behind which the ageless spirit shines forth. Sai Ram.

We will continue with this wonderful chapter in

the weeks to come. Sai Ram.

Thank you for your suggestion. We are doing this as a voluntary work. If

someone can type it in Hindi and send to us, we should be able to create the 3d

13. EDITORIAL:

Things impressed me from this magazine:

SAI IN MY LIFE by Shri.N.C.Mishra is a

thrilling one and goes beyond doubt to establish Baba’s Omniscience, for those

devotees who repose unshaken faith in HIM. The experience to Shri.Mishra

granted in the premises of the ‘Mrityunjaya’ temple is more relevant in this

specific context. It proves the adage “Yadhbhavam Thathbhavathi” in practice

and in a lucid manner easily understood by one and all. I request more of such

experiences from our valuable readership which will help in inculcating the

true moral values in society which is the need of the hour. -SAI RAM.

Awareness of oneness i.e. ‘PARA BRAHMAH’ is the

true essence of all.

Sai

Baba taught to the devotees about the immutable law of ‘Karma’.Actions submerged

in the past and forgotten by the individual but not by the laws of the

universe. Every action begets reaction and results.
