Guest guest
LAW OF KARMA As per law of Karma, no one born in this world (as Human beings, Animals, etc., etc.,) can escape prarabdha karma, (octions/kormas, good or bad done in our past Janmas/births). " As you sow, so you reap " . We are born in this world to reap the fruits of our past karmas (good or bad). When good things happen to us we enjoy and when we suffer we blame God. That is the human tendency which is due to ignorance (avidya). It is different case with Jnanis. Sri Ramana Maharishi was suffering from Sarcoma Cancer etc. Eminent doctors attended on him and operated on that part/portion of the body of cancer; but, to no avail. But, Maharishi was least disturbed from his vow of silence as he always abided in the self. He became Himself, 'Self (God, Universal Spirit). For " Jnanis* their bodies are just like shadows. Nothing happens if bodies are cut or tortured. Let us go deep in the life of our Samartha Sadguru Sai Baba. In Sai Ashtothram (108 names in praise of Him) it is stated " Karma Dwamsine Namaha. (Baba is destroyer of Karmas) We have seen in SRI SAI SAICHARITA, in the case of Master Balwant Khaparde, while at Shirdi with his mother he got high fever which further developed into Bubonic plague, (with four fully developed bubos). Baba took the disease (plague) on himself and cured it. Baba cured Bhimaji Patel's " Tuberculosis' after punishing him in two dreams, thus washing off his previous Karmas. He also cured Dr. Pillay suffering from guinea worms. There are many instances cited in Sai Satcharita in which Baba had saved His Devotees from the laws of death. How many times Baba has saved the writer of this article from the jaws of death:- " I am living (91 yrs age) and writing this article today because of Baba's Grace and Blessings on me; otherwise, I would have been buried fathom deep long long ago*. Let it be so. Baba has also spoken about " destiny " of Devotees (Bhaktos). He said " whoever is destined to die should die and whoever to be caressed (saved) will be caressed*. A few cases are cited below : (1) Appa Kote (Baba's devotee) was attacked with plague and dying, his wife approached Him and asked for 'UDI'. Baba refused to give 'UDI' saying " Let him go " . In his new life he will do good things and attain salvation. (2) A mother's son died of snake bite at Shirdi. Kakasaheb Dixit (Baba's ardent devotee) approached and requested Him to revive the dead body to life, as he could not bear the mournings (waitings) of the mother of the son (died of snake bite). In this case also, Baba scolded Dixit thus " Arre Kaka, will you take the responsibility of the son if I revive? He will become a 'dacoit' and his life will be ruined. But in the new life he will do good things and will become a great Devotee. " (3) Baba has saved Sri N. Chandorkar's daughter (Maina Thai) from labour pains and enabled her to deliver a son safely. But her husband and the child died after one year. When N. Chandorkar went to Shirdi with his family members, he was gloomy and did not speak as usual. Seeing Nana's sorrowful mood, Baba told him that, birth and death are in the hands of God; God cannot ask the sun to rise in the west and set in the east. Baba then made some 'gestures' to him and he was convinced that they have attained 'sodgati' and are happy in the other world. To conclude, we should completely surrender to our Samantha Sadguru Satnath Maharaj, who is our succour, saviour, protector and able refuge. We need not be afraid of 'death', (death of the body), because, Baba has assured His devotees that he would follow each and every devotee birth after birth, till they finally merge in Him. Let us remember what Baba told Sri M.B.Rege, to ask him whatever he wanted. Sri M.B. Rege told Him, " I don't wont anything from you. But I beg of you that you must be with me in each and every birth I take and guide me " to which Baba smiled and agreed to do so let us, as sincere Sai Devotees, surrender to Him with Tan, Man and Dhan {Body, Mind and Possessions) and pray to Him as follows: " Oh Samartha Sadguru Sai Deva, the wish fulfilling tree of the Bhaktas, We pray: Let us never forget and lose sight of your feet; we have been troubled with the ins and outs (births and deaths) in this samsar; now free us from this cycle of births and deaths. Restrain us from the outgoing of our senses to their objects and introvert us, and bring us face to face with the Atma (self). As long as this outgoing tendency of the senses and the mind is not checked, there is no prospect of self-realisation. Neither son, nor wife, not friend, will be of any use in the end. It is only you, who will give us salvation and bliss. Destroy completely our tendency for discussions and other evil matters, let our tongue get a passion for chanting your name. Drive out our thoughts, and make us forget our bodies and do away with our egoism. Make us ever remember your name and forget all other things. Remove the restlessness of our mind and make it steady and calm. If you just clasp us, the darkness of night, of our ignorance, will vanish and we shall live happily in your light. That you made us drink the nectar of your leelas and awakened us from our slumber, is due to your grace and our store of merits in past births " .
