Guest guest
Dear Kiran, Love and Love alone..... Many thanks for your thought provoking mail, which I really appreciate and congratulate you for having such a clarity of thought. Having said so, I cannot but respond to you not only as one of the Moderators of this group but also on behalf of TBP and my brother and owner Sri Raghava Rao. Our Sanata Dharma has given the freedom to live as one wants to. This is the greatest strength and the cornerstone of our great religion. Basically, as Sri Sarvepally Radhakrishnan and many other great scholars and saints said, Hindu religion is not a religion, as Christianity, Islam, etc., per se, but it s way of life. The lives of Hindus, from times immeorial, even before Sri Adi Sankaracharya, is wedded to worshipping multiple gods, as Greece have. And, the Gurus like Sri Saibaba, Paramacharya, Sri Ramana Maharshi, Meherbaba, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Tukaram, Gnaneswar, Raghavendra Swamy, etc., of the present day and Vyasa, Adi Sankara, Ramanuja, Madhvacharya, Sandeepani, Viswamitra, etc., of earlier era guided the Hindu culture on a path, which is good for its existence and growth. It is a different aspect altogether that it is deteriorated a lot, mainly due to the currpet political set up than anything else. Every one wants to amass and become multi-millionaire overnight, by hook or crook. Coming back to the point, These great saints decoded the inner essence of our Vedas, Puranas, Stotras, Upanishads, etc. and taught it to the general public in simple words. Not only that, they lived so to show them how one can live by the path shown in these great texts. We were taught not only, Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnuh, etc., but also Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Deve Bhava, etc. Unfortunately, most of us do not understand the basic idea of these great words and mantras. The Mother gives us birth, undergoing a lot of pain and she becomes the first Guru, after we were brought on to this Karma Bhumi. Then, she introduces the child to the Father and he comes the second Guru and both these parents then introduce the child to the Guru, who unfolds the inner-light of the child to Greater or Permanent Light by introducing him to the great Sastras, Truths, etc., by removing the cover of ignorance. Unfortunately, we are deprived of that kind of knowledge now in the modern education, which is very short sighted and help us only in becoming money-makers rather than real human beings. But, the fact remains, that when these mantras were coined, the society at that time was like this. It clearly shows that the person, who cannot respect and love the parents cannot love and respect the society at large. The person, who cannot love, serve and respect the Parents, cannot be expected to love, serve and respect the society at large. So, the first lessons of becoming a real human being, a noble soul, starts at home, with mother and father and then Guru. That is the reason, we need to respect them with all love, serve them with all love and respect them, becasue we are what we are today. We need to bow our heads to these great saints with all reverence for this one simple reason. I hope the above explanation will address all the points that you raised in your post. Please keep contributing and we need good writers like you. May God Bless You. Love and Love alone.... P. Pl. accept my sincere wishes for having furthering the cause of Sanatana Dharma by creating/sharing such a group. I live in the Gulf with my family. I'm getting increasingly concerned these days about members treading the " sai baba " path unnecessarily when our own Vedic Gods are very much existent. In the best case-scenario, sai baba can be considered as a guru who should NEVER be worshipped. Only Gods are deemed to be worshipped. I'd like to give a heads-up on some interesting Hindu aspects. Basic definition of a Hindu : He who believes in the Vedas & all the sciptures and follows them with utmost sincerity. In the Vedas, its been clearly mentioned who should be worshipped. So, those who are deviating from this, need to be aware that they are actually deviating from being a Sanatana Dharma follower !!! I've read SaiBaba's Satcharitra before when I was a devotee of Shirdi sai baba. And in essence, it compiles all that is said in Bahagvad Gita, Puranas, etc. ... nothing special as such. In fact this is what I feel bad about. Why should people lean toward other books when we already have enough guidance available from the legacy of Sanatana Dharma ? I call Sanatana Dharma, as you know the word Sindus was coined by the Persians and with time, the word eventually became Hindus. Its unfortunate that our religion's name itself does not belong to us !!! What a sad state our religion is in ! Indeed, we should learn from the muslims on why they abandoned saibaba as their God and stuck to allah & quran only. If you notice, there are very few (<1%) muslim followers of saibaba because they follow their quran sincerely which says that nobody else other than allah has to be worshipped. And saibaba tried to woo them by saying things like " Allah rehem kare " , " sab ka malik ek " , etc. And unfortunately, we Hindus are too flexible and worship anything that comes our way, thereby having the " least " sincerety towards our religion. Our Dharma forbids practising other religions ! Rama & Krishna did not need training perse. It was part of their Karma that they wanted to demonstrate to the world where every human is supposed to follow his/her own karma & dharma. It'd be contextual to recall Lord Rama as was called " Purna Purush " who is a complete (in all respects) human being who has walked on the face of this Prithvi. http://www.dharmacentral.com/ And after ALL this, why do we need to resort to such babas when you can seek refuge in the supreme Lords Vishnu, Shiva, etc. ? Just think about this, if you spare the " extra " time also on Lord Vishnu, chances of your prayers getting answered increases by that much ! These sai devotees say that they blindly " believe " in the baba and there's no explanation that they can give and that something good happened to them because of the belief. They need to THINK PROPERLY and should not belittle our religion inadvertently with irrationalistic beliefs ! Its time to OPEN our eyes & get to know our great religion! http://www.bharatadesam.com/scriptures/vedas.php Yes, we do need Gurus to clarify on spiritual matters but NOT to be worshipped as equal to the Gods. If we follow the saying " Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu ... " then Guru is equal to Brahma, God. If one accepts this, then you'll have to accept " Matru devo bhava, pitru devo bhava ... " also. So, one can treat your mother & father as Gods too & worship them !!! So, we should never ever equate anybody to the Supreme almighty other than the ones mentioned in our Vedas & other scriptures ! We should not attribute nice things that happen to us to the " middlemen " ignoring the Sanatana Dharmic essence ! The supreme Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu & Maheswara) is all we need who need to be worshipped without the so-called " middlemen " like shirdi saibaba, meherbaba, kalki bhagawan (he was arrested twice so far for cheating people), etc. My only intention is NOT to offend anyone but to guide some deviated people who may NOT have delved deep into real Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma). We may get additional grace from the God if we devote the time that's devoted to sai baba etc. My humble appeal : Can you please send out an email asking the members NOT to send emails regarding shirdi/satya sai babas, especially from saileelas, etc. ?
