Guest guest
Dear friends and devotees, Bhakti is eternal. The gratitude of a venomous creature. A business man was walking through a forest near Himalayas. Suddenly a huge Davanalam (forest fire) spread and a Krishnahi (Black Cobra) got caught in it. It trembled with fear seeing the sky-touching flames. It did not know where to go. The cobra then saw the business man and cried for help “O great person! Not knowing where to run to save my life, when I prayed God, you came like God. You appear to be equal to the great charitable king like “Shibi” to me. Please save me” The business man was so kind that he could not even see the pitiful state of bad creature like the cobra. With kind heart, the businessman went into the forest fire and found the cobra. He tied a bag to one end of his hand-stick, caught it by the other and put the bag near the cobra. The cobra crawled into the bag, coiled itself and stayed safely in it. The businessman then brought the cobra to a safe place land left it. Instead of showing gratitude to the businessman, the cobra said “Humankinds and the snakes always have enmity. I will not leave you” It immediately hissed and jumped on the businessman. Shocked, trembling with fear, the businessman ran for his life. The businessman was running and the cobra was following. They ran into a cave where one jackal was sleeping. The jackal woke up and found the two. It asked the cobra “O king of the serpents! Why are you chasing this man? Please tell me your story. I will help if I can”. The cobra then narrated the entire story to the jackal. Putting an expression as if it was surprised, the jackal said “I do not believe you. You are so huge. I do not believe that you fit in this small bag”. To show how it was possible, the cobra went into the bag and coiled itself. The jackal then signaled the businessman, who was awe-struck and looking on, to close the bag. The businessman then closed the opening of the bag and then hit it with his stick and sent it to the hell. Moral in the Story: Ungratefulness is a sinful offence which one should not have. Though the businessman saved the life of the cobra, it instead of showing gratitude went to kill him. Ingratitude will always face difficulties in the end. The kindness of the businessman is well shown in the story. Even though it is a poisonous snake, without caring about himself, the businessman went into the fire and saved the cobra.
