Renunciation

Sutra 7: Sa na kamayamana nirodharupatvat.

Bhakti (supreme love) is not of the nature of lust (desire), because

it is of the form of renunciation.

Sutra 8: Nirodhastu lokavedavyaparanyasah

On the contrary, control of desires means the resignation to the Lord

of all worldly and scriptural activities.

Sutra 9: Tasminnananyata tadvirodhishudasinata cha.

(Nirodha also means) single minded devotion to the Lord and

indifference to all that is antagonistic to Him.
