Guest guest
The month 'Kartika' is very auspicious for the Hindus and is sacred to both the Saivites and Vishnavites. Telugu people are more particular in doing the Karatika vratam irrespectsive of gender and casste.Devotees observe strict austerities during the month. It is beleived that by neglecting to perform Kartika vrata, all the pious mertits amassed in past are burned to ashes. Kartika puranam detailes the rituals and customs to be performed during the Kartika month. Various Hindu sacred texts have mentioned the list of basic rituals and customs. These rituals are meant for the biggest wealth i.e. health, peace and bliss. Kaartikasnanam ,Sivabhishekam with Namakam,Chamakam and Ekadasarudras, and naktam are the important rituals. For the whole month, devotees take meal once in a day after the Sunset and prayers to Lord Siva. They brakfast at nights. If anybody is not able to do so for the whole month, they follow this at least on auspicious days like Kartika Mondays,Ekadasi and Kartikapournima. These rituals will certainly result in very good physical and mental health with peace. During the Kartika month, deovotees take ceremonial spiritual bath duting the early hours i.e. Brahmamuhurta everyday. While taking bath , the chanting of 'Ganga Ganga Ganga' is prescribed. 'Ganga Gangeti yobruvan yojananam satairapi' , one is blessed by chanting the name of Ganga from a distance of thousands of miles. Listening Gangastakam is a bliss during the Kartika month.I request you to listen Gangastakam. http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=dr.goli
