Guest guest
Upanishads are veritably the fountainhead from which many rivers arise to irrigate and enrich the Hindu culture. According to the Vedic religion, there are 3 principal volumes in philosophy, the Upanishads, the Bhagad Gita and the Brahma Sutras. The pre-eminent place is for Upanishads that deal with divine knowledge. The subject matter of Upanishads is mainly the Brahman and Atman and their relationship with each other. Forming the sum and the substance of all the wisdom, the Upanishads constitute the supreme achievement of Hindu thought. The human body is truely a marvellous piece of machinery, but like all machines, is prone to break down under unfavourable conditions. The practice of yogic asanas and pranayama is unquestionably an ideal method to preserve the health and longevity of our body. Truth about the 'Kshetra' and the 'Kshetrajna' , the body or the field and its knower is fully known, the delusion in the form of this world disappears and God realisation takes place - asserts Bhagavad Gita. Sri Sariraka Upanishad of Krishna-yajurveda analyses the composition of human form. The body is a compound of 'prithivi'earth and other mahabhutas - primordial elements, such as apas or water, agni or fire, vayu or air, and akasa or space. In the body, that which is hard is the essence of earth, that which is liquid is of water, that which is hot is of fire, that which moves about is of air, that which is perforated is of space. There are karmendriyas( organs of action),gnanendriya s(organs of knowledge), antahkarana( internal organs). This Upanishad dealt with gunas, states, sukshma or linga sarira, jivatma, and paramatma. It deals with 23 tatvas, avyakta and finally the Purusha. I request you to listen to Sri Sariraka Upanishad during this auspicious Kaartika month. http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=dr.goli
