Preface by Sri Sri Daya Mata

" For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he " (Proverbs 23:7). This

wisdom may be heeded by every man who would improve himself and strive

to realise the highest goal of life: God. What we consistently think

about will influence what we become. Our circumstances in life, our

moods and habits, our successes and failures, are largely products of

our thoughts. Indeed, the power of mind is the originating and

governing force behind all creation.

Training the mind to dwell on positive, inspiring thoughts helps one

to concentrate his energies for the accomplishment of a definite and

lasting objective. I learned to apply this spiritual science years ago

under the guidance of my great guru, Sri Sri Paramahamsa Yogananda. To

take even one facet of Truth each day and dwell upon it, and strive to

live by it, has a miraculously transforming effect on one's inner and

outer life. Never begin a day without first anchoring the mind to some

guiding principle of Truth.

We easily become caught up in material duties and forget our spiritual

responsibilities. We slave for the body; but what of our duty to the

soul? That image of God within us cries to express its

Spirit-qualities: eternal life, immeasurable divine love and wisdom,

boundless joy. All that God is, and has, is ours by divine birthright.

To know this is Self-realisation.

In this Spiritual Diary are inspiring thoughts to guide you each day

of the year. If you apply them in all your endeavours, material or

spiritual, your actions will be surcharged with divine power. Think

truth, think good, think God. If your mind is filled with His light,

there can be no darkness for you.
