Guest guest
Sankranti Panduga - Makara Sankranti of Pongal, celebrated in the month of Poushyam, unites the whole of our country in celebration. With nemerous communities addiing their own flavour to the festival with their quaint customs, Sankranti celebrations in our Telugu's household take a whole new colour. In Telugu homes, this Pedda Panduga or Peddala Panduga is a grand affair that goes on for four days. From the first day of Bhogi,to Sankranti,Kanuma and the final Mukkanuma, there are customs that are unique to our Telugu culture. Haridasulu,Gobbemmalu,Muggulu,Ariselu,Perantalu,Uttarayanapunyakala gummadikayadaanalu,Pongallu,Bommalakoluvulu,Bhogipallu, tilladdus,Gangireddulu, Bhogimantalu and many other traditions shower happiness and pleasure. These rituals are important as they keep us grounded to our roots and help begin the year on a positive note. The Sankranti Bommalakoluvu, like Dasara Bommalakoluvu is very much significant in our celebrations. It gives an opportunity to the child generations to acquint with our culture, traditions, our history, our great people, our purnas, itihasas and many other modern ongoings in the world for personality development and excellence in life. It is the responsibility of parents and grand parents to explain about dolls and the significance of Bommalakoluvu for creating best impressions in their open minds. I request you to listen about Bommalakoluvu with your children and grand children on these festive days. http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=dr.anjaneyulu%20goli%20AND% 20collection%3Aopensource_audio
