SECERET DOCTRINE WAS WRRITEN BY  MADAM H.P BLAVATSKY

 

H. P. Blavatsky (1831-1891) was one of the most extraordinary and

controversial figures  of the 19th century. The influence of her life,

writings and teachings on world thought has been significant. Helena

Petrovna von Hahn was born at Ekaterinoslav, a town on the river

Dnieper, in Southern Russia, on the 12th of August, 1831.

 

Helena was an exceptional child, and at an early age was aware of

being different from those around her. Her possession of certain

psychic powers puzzled her family and friends. At a very early age she

sensed that she was in some way dedicated to a life of service, and

was aware of a special guidance and protection.

 

On her twentieth birthday, in 1851, being then in London, she met the

individual whom she had known in her psycho-spiritual visions from

childhood --- an Eastern Initiate of Rajput birth, the Mahatma Morya

or M. as he became known in later years among Theosophists. He told

her something of the work that was in store for her, and from that

moment she accepted fully his guidance.

 

The Secret Doctrine is subtitled, The Synthesis of Science, Religion,

and Philosophy. What is fascinating is that HPB anticipated many

scientific discoveries when the physicists and chemists of her day

were convinced that everything was known and understood. Eight years

before science realized the atom is in constant movement, HPB stated

this fact, indeed that all of creation is in constant motion. The

thinking at the time saw the universe as static, mechanical and matter

inert. Anthropologist were grudgingly allowing man an antiquity in

millions of years. Einstein’s niece reported that a copy of The Secret

Doctrine was always on his desk. The friends of HPB were impressive

and included Thomas Edison, Sir William Cookes, leading chemist and

physicist of the nineteenth century, Camille Flammarion, renowned

French astronomer, William James, William Butler Yeats,and Mahatma

Gandhi ,Ekkirala Krishnamacharya  Swami Sivananda  and the list goes

on and on.

And perfection which the secret science depicts.

 

These are the golden stairs

Up the steps of which the learner may climb

To the Temple of Divine Wisdom
