Guest guest
Appreciation: A spiritual exercise God taught " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you " There are many ways to put this golden rule into practice; APPRECIATION is one. Take for a moment about your family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Doesn't it make your day when one of them says or does something to show they appreciate you? Every one benefits from apreciation. Here is an exercise to strengthen your appreciation skills. Pick some one that you interact with daily, and make it a goal to show your appreciation at least once in a day. Be on the lookout for things that you genuinely admire about him or thank him or commend him. Take a moment at the end of the day to reflect how it went. Do you meet your goal? What effect did it have on the recipients? Make an effort to not choose the only those people you like most or feel closet to. Even the most difficult people to get along with have some good qualities. Showing appreciaion will not only give the recipient a lift, it will also improve your outlook by helping you view those around you more positively. It seems to be human nature to notice the bad more easily than the good, and it is often relatively minor things that soar our relations, such as idiosynchrasies that we find irritating. By making a concious effort to look for things to appreciate in others, focusing on the good will overide the humam nature and make you a more positive person. Love and appreciation are to the heart what sunshine and water to a flower.
