Radhe Krishna To all,

 

The Lord takes several Avatars on earth to establish dharma. Srimad Bhagavatam

says 'asankyaih' – countless – 'the Lord's Avatars have been countless,'

says Srimad Bhagavatam.

 

A man takes birth on earth to live out his 'karmas' (the fruit of all his good

and bad deeds in earlier births). Man has to face the repercussions of all his

deeds; Karma knows no mercy. When a cat catches a mouse it does not devour it

all at once. It leaves its hold for a time and lets the mouse run hither and

thither and again strikes it. It is a cruel play act. In the same way, one may

shed profuse tears, beg, run hither and thither, trying to find a way out but

karma shows no mercy. It does not spare you but strikes again and again. One

cannot wriggle out of it by any stratagem.

 

To attain birth on earth is not a matter of pride. On the contrary, to be birth

less is verily the matter of glory. What pleasure can one take in being born?

Thus, all, including Mahans, pray for a birth less state.

 

Thondaripodi Azhwar prays, 'aadhalal piravi venden' (therefore, I do not seek

birth); Pattinathaar prays, 'meendum oru karuppaiyil vaaraamal ka' (protect me

against entering a womb again). We have been born as a result of nurturing this

desire (to be born). Only the birth of the Lord on earth is truly amazing! One

who has no birth, one who has no obligation to take birth is born on earth. Is

this not the real glory? Nothing in the world can be a cause of delight to Him.

There is only one gratification for God in taking birth on earth. What is it? A

mother in dire poverty lives in a hut. She has no means even to earn her daily

bread. Nevertheless, she finds joy in being with her children: So too, God, who

finds no pleasure in this world, takes delight in being with us, His children.

 

In the Gita, the Lord underlines the reason for incarnating on earth – 'dharma

samsthapanaarthaaya sambhavaami yuge, yuge.' God proclaims, 'I incarnate in

every yuga to establish dharma.'

 

There is a marked difference between Bhaktas (devotees) and lay men. What is it?

Bhaktas and Bhagavan (God) are bound by a cord - the cord of faithfulness born

out of love. Never will the Bhaktas betray God; nor would God, at any time,

betray His Bhaktas. Even when faced with the trials and tribulations of life

they will not point an accusing finger at God, condemning Him of betrayal.

Instead, they would say that the Lord has some good reason to place them in such

situations. One who laments is no Bhakta. God would never support him. How does

a Bhakta react? 'Oh, Lord! How merciful you are!'

 

If someone lodged a complaint against His Bhakta's action, the Lord would say,

" Oh, My Bhakta would never behave in this manner. It must be a mistaken

identity. Please, conduct proper enquiry. " When the man returns with enough

proof to testify the fault of the Bhakta, the Lord would reply calmly, " Well! My

Bhakta always takes the right course. If he has behaved in this manner there

must be some good reason behind it! " Thus, Bhagavan and Bhakta would never let

down each other; they would always protect each other. One who betrays is no

Bhakta; one who betrays is no Bhagavan.
