Guest guest
The Purport of Gita Chapters (4-5) Chapter 4 For exhausting all actions (karmas) and to be released from the bondage of all actions there are two solutions - 1) To understand the Essence about actions and 2) to attain Knowledge of Truth. Bhagavaan initiates the creation of this Universe, but due to having no attachment to the fruit or a sense of doership in the actions, He is not bound. He who performs actions without attraction for the fruit, desires and attachment, i.e. one who performs actions remaining entirely untainted by the fruits of action, they become completely disconnected and separated from all the actions. He whose actions are free of desires, firm intentions and resolves (sankalp), all his actions are burnt away. He who does not have attachment to either the action or it's fruit, he even though deeply immersed and engaged in action, he is not bound by those actions. He who does actions only for the sustenance of the body and who remains equanimous in the accomplishment or non-accomplishment of actions; he who is performing actions only for the purpose of protecting the age old traditions of duties, all his actions are dissolved. In this manner by properly understanding the reality of actions, man is freed from the bondage of actions (karma). Servering all relations with the inert itself is realization of the Truth. This realization is better than offering of things. In this Knowledge of Truth, all actions come to an end. And after attaining this knowledge man is never deluded again. Even the worst of sinners overcomes all sins through knowledge of Truth. Just like fire burns away all impurities and garbage, similarly knowledge burns away all actions. Chapter 5 When a man is faced with favorable and unfavorable situations, he must not become happy or unhappy, elated or dejected, because the man who is trapped in all these pairs of opposites such as being happy and sad etc., he cannot rise above the mundane worldly matters. Sanyaasi (Ascetic) is not one who has given up wife, son, family, wealth, possessions, etc, rather one who performs his duty diligently, remaining free from likes and dislikes, this is a true ascetic. He who is neither elated on coming across favorable situations and dejected on facing unfavorable situations, such a one who is free from pairs of opposites is a true sanyaasi. All the worldly happiness-unhappine ss, favorable-unfavorab le etc these pairs are the cause of all our sorrows. Therefore an intelligent man must not be trapped in these.
