We are celebrating the 334th Jayanti of Sri Narayana Tirtha on this Ashadasuddha

Ekadasi day. He is a great mystic saint musician of the 17th century born at

Kaja village of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. A three day devotional

Jayanthi celebrations are from 1st July to 3rd July this year at Kaja under the

aegis of Sadguru Narayana Tirtha Trust.

Our group join these birthday celebrations of the greatest

Telugu saint musician who was an ardent devotee of Lord Sri Krishna and

composed 'Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini' a magnum opus and several other songs on

Krishna delving into Madhurabhakti. We pay devotional Salutations by remembering

him.

Mystics have highlighted the efficacy of chanting God's names and singing in

praise as the panacea for all worldly sorrows and as the easiest method for

attaining liberation. One such great mystic saint musician is Sri Narayana

Tirtha born in a South Indian Telugu Brahmin family to Sri Nilakantha Sastry and

Parvathi Amma. On the divine direction of Lord Venkateswara Narayana Tirdha

reached Varahur in Tamilnad and composed his magnum opus Sri Krishna Leela

Tarangini. This tarangini was written in the mould of yakshagana using a variety

of mudras to sign his works, prominent among them being 'Vara Narayana Tirtha',

'Siva Narayana Tirdha' and 'Yati Narayana Tirdha'. His music had a lot of

influence on the subsequent composers, in particular over Saint Tyagaraja who

offered his gratitude to him to write his own two operas named the Prahlada

Bhakta Vijayam and the Noukacharitram. His Krishna Leela Tarangini is an

outstanding work which has songs filled with literary beauty and high musical

value.

Our devotional Salutations and Namaskaarams to Sri Narayana Tirtha.
