Friends, We would like to contact Ramakrishna Math to set up an elementary school in our village Chagantivaripalem, Muppalla Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India - 522408. Anybody can help us and guide us in this ? We would like to have the education to our children in the lines of Swami Vivekananda's sayings about Education 'Education should improve the character of the pupil digesting the facts and not merely going through volumes of books.Education should stand the man on his/her own feet'. As you know service of the man is service of God. Kindly help us in this."C. P. That is a long journey! There are very few 'Latu Maharaj' in the world who can jump straight into the lap of God through love and devotion. They are the blessed, the very privileged. Some amount of rites and rituals are useful aids in the spiritual journey. In the words of the Gospel, by rubbing the sandal wood into paste for the act of worship, you acquire its fragrance. Everything has its place in its time and context. And everything drops away when the time comes. We need to be seadfast in our faith as we go through the journey.

Prabhu, krpa hi kevalam!

Jai RamakrishnaYES, TRUE... But this is in advanced state. Even then he will do all these things to set a good example to less evolved souls. Even Lord sri Krishna says this when he tells abour Karma in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita something as under:"I have nothing to gain or loose by doing karma but still I contously engage myself in karma to set good example to people orelse the universe will perish"

The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna There are other indications of a jnani. He shows intense dispassion in the presence of a sadhu, is a lion when at work, for instance, when he lectures, and is full of wit before his wife. - from "The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna" (Abridged Edition): Pundit Shashadhar Love, Light and Peace...Kumar Looking for last minute shopping deals? I had read once a few sayings on the holy Gayatri mantra, by Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna. I am currently searching for this information.

If anyone here could share them with me, I'd be most obliged.

Regards,

Hari

Pranams hari,

I don't remember the exact words from the Gospel of

Sri Ramakrishna. Thakur said " Sandhya merges with

Gayathri and Gayathri will merge with Param brahman " .

His explanation was that if a person regularly and

sincerely practices Sandhya with fervent devotion, his

actions to perform Sandhya will lessen and his

devotion will merge in Gayatri. After sincerely

meditating on the meaning of Gayatri, it will make the

person realize the para brahman.

Humbly in the Lord,

Prasad

God can be realized through all paths. All religions are true. The important

thing is to reach the roof. You can reach it by stone stairs or by wooden

stairs or by bamboo steps or by a rope. You can also climb up by a bamboo

pole. (p. 111)

One should not think, 'My religion alone is the right path and other

religions are false.' God can be realized by means of all paths. It is

enough to have sincere yearning for God. Infinite are the paths and infinite

the opinions. (page 158)

I had to practise each religion for a time — Hinduism, IslÄm, Christianity.

Furthermore, I followed the paths of the ÅšÄktas, Vaishnavas, and VedÄntists.

I realized that there is only one God toward whom all are travelling; but

the paths are different. (p. 129)

If there are errors in other religions, that is none of our business. God,

to whom the world belongs, takes care of that. (p. 559)

Can you weep for Him with intense longing of heart? Men shed a jugful of

tears for the sake of their children, for their wives, or for money. But who

weeps for God? So long as the child remains engrossed with its toys, the

mother looks after her cooking and other household duties. But when the

child no longer relishes the toys, it throws them aside and yells for its

mother. Then the mother takes the rice-pot down from the hearth, runs in

haste, and takes the child in her arms. (p. 149)

God laughs on two occasions. He laughs when the physician says to the

patient's mother, 'Don't be afraid, mother; I shall certainly cure your

boy.' God laughs, saying to Himself, 'I am going to take his life, and this

man says he will save it!' The physician thinks he is the master, forgetting

that God is the Master. God laughs again when two brothers divide their land

with a string, saying to each other, 'This side is mine and that side is

yours.' He laughs and says to Himself, 'The whole universe belongs to Me,

but they say they own this portion or that portion.' (p. 105)

The waves belong to the Ganges, not the Ganges to the waves. A man cannot

realize God unless he gets rid of all such egotistic ideas as 'I am such an

important man' or 'I am so and so'. Level the mound of 'I' to the ground by

dissolving it with tears of devotion. (p. 385)

Many people think they cannot have knowledge or understanding of God without

reading books. But hearing is better than reading, and seeing is better than

hearing. Hearing about Benares is different from reading about it; but

seeing Benares is different from either hearing or reading. (p. 863)

One cannot be spiritual as long as one has shame, hatred, or fear. (p. 186)

If one has faith one has everything. (p. 849)

By constantly repeating, 'I am free, I am free', a man verily becomes free.

On the other hand, by constantly repeating, 'I am bound, I am bound', he

certainly becomes bound to worldliness. The fool who says only, 'I am a

sinner, I am a sinner', verily drowns himself in worldliness. One should

rather say: 'I have chanted the name of God. How can I be a sinner? How can

I be bound?' (p. 274)

He who has realized God does not look upon a woman with the eye of lust; so

he is not afraid of her. He perceives clearly that women are but so many

aspects of the Divine Mother. He worships them all as the Mother Herself.

(p. 168)

Women are, all of them, the veritable images of Åšakti. (p. 116)

Imagine a limitless expanse of water: above and below, before and behind,

right and left, everywhere there is water. In that water is placed a jar

filled with water. There is water inside the jar and water outside, but the

jar is still there. The 'I' is the jar. (p. 659)

Suppose a thorn has pierced a man's foot. He picks another thorn to pull out

the first one. After extracting the first thorn with the help of the second,

he throws both away. One should use the thorn of knowledge to pull out the

thorn of ignorance. Then one throws away both the thorns, knowledge and

ignorance, and attains vijnÄna. What is vijnÄna? It is to know God

distinctly by realizing His existence through an intuitive experience and to

speak to Him intimately. That is why Sri Krishna said to Arjuna, 'Go beyond

the three gunas.' (p. 780)

Who may be called a paramahamsa? He who, like a swan, can take the milk from

a mixture of milk and water, leaving aside the water. He who, like an ant,

can take the sugar from a mixture of sugar and sand, leaving aside the sand.

(p. 370)
